Yes, I think all the problems are results of bad OpenGL hardware shaders from ATI. :(
But without it, we can't fly with perfect graphics mode activated. :)

AH_Viper,

atioglxx.dll needs to be in IL-2 root folder, eg. X:\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

10.4 is out.
Same thing or maybe worst.
In some planes the skin disappears from inside and outside of the cockpit

S!

Using 10.4a previews without a glitch. Those are actually newer than the WHQL 10.4 ;) Also a small tidbit found on 1C forum concerning the "blue hue". If you want to use Vertex Arrays (both options at 1) then just disable DynamicalLights=1 to 0 and it is gone. Works and boosts FPS a bit as well. All this in conf.ini :)

I cant get over how good my game is running, no stutter at all and looks clean and sharp. Very happy here. I do have to use the old ati.dll, oh well maybe next time.

Well, I am starting to think the only solution, for IL-2 players, will be a nVidia card. :(
Sorry, for this, friends, but this is annoying me. >:(
Let us see if ATI team can release a fix  before I buy a new card. ::)
They have a big advantage, because I don't have the money at this moment. :P

I had successfull in activate the crossfirex on IL-2, but it only works without hardware shaders.
In my test, it increased the FPS around 15% and 20%.
How can I did that?
I made a copy of the file "il2fb.exe" to "quake4.exe" (you need the 2 files).
After that, I played the game by the file "quake4.exe".

Oh God, this waiting is boring me. :(

I agree, ATI needs to step up and make it right for the consumers, not just the customers.

guys, what do you expect?

the problem is mentioned in the release notes, they obviously try to fix the problem, and this-i guess- is not a work of minutes.

just keep cool, you can decide between: 1 small .dll in your game folder OR spending a lot more money. for me the decision wasnt that hard.

and the last thing i wanted to say was: F%&K nVidia, ATI/AMD rocks!  :P

Well I agree with the "1 small .dll vs spending a lot of money" logic, though I have been running Intel for quite some time in the CPU market (since the core 2 duos first appeared) though I have to admit with their newest cpu release AMD has me impressed enough to risk a switch again.  6 cores for 700 dollars less than Intel's, who cares if it's not quite as powerful?  It'll still spank my core i7.  I'm just not ready to give up triple channel memory though...or downsize from 12 to 8gb of ram... though probably what I will do is wait until I finally get into grad school this fall and get my whopping great excess aid check and blow it on whatever the newest and greatest thing is this September (like EVGA's newest dual CPU monster board they're releasing) while I do my best to keep my slowly dying motherboard alive... (Note to everyone... avoid MSI mobos like the plague... they used to be good but I've gone through three in the last year... I just can't afford whole new ones so I have to just keep getting replacements but this newest b***ard managed to outlive his warranty before all his pci ports and half his usb ports started dying...).

But at any rate, coming back to the topic at hand, I agree, this is definitely a cheaper option than buying a whole new and more expensive video card (if you're getting the newest technology) and I agree, they have mentioned the problem, they obviously are working on it and have acknowledged it, and as has been stated before, although it's a huge issue to us, when you're dealing with a company whose cards are designed for far newer and more popular games with larger fan bases with such tough competition like AMD/ATI has... we are probably going to play 2nd fiddle for a bit... sad but true.

Hi, having read this complete topic today I would like to know if it makes any sense to install 10.4 and put the ATIlog.dll in the main game map? I'm on 9.10 now. Thanks.

Admittedly, I'm an ATI/AMD fanboy (even before the merger), but I'll be quite honest - AMD's recent CPU more than compensate for the lackluster first-generation Phenoms. I have an x3 720BE running at stock 2.8ghz, and it chews every stock Intel dual core. Yeah, I know, the C2D 8---s can be heavily overclocked, but so can the Phenom 2 x3. And both would require better than stock cooling...

As for ATI - I've been stuck with 9.10 ever since it came out and it doesn't look like I'll switch it, unless I go Windows 7. Every single driver release after that has dropped my framerate, regardless of the game tested. :/
