Oh jeez, it's gonna be going on 2 years this December.  This is the only game it has any issues with.  On STALKER days I can play the game pretty much straight from dawn till dusk(and later) so I don't think it's failing hardware just yet... though that may also be very wishful thinking on my part, as I have no way of affording a replacement should this one go.  In the meantime... think I'm just going to stick with playing on DX with the AA and such turned up, it looks well enough for me, when I'm chasing down a Yak I'm not usually concerned with how pretty the water is afterall!  Hopefully this December I'll get another nice excess aid check and be able to finally retire this old beast, but for now I'm just trying to do the best I can with what I have.  Though just for the record where would one find the error/stats log if one were so inclined, because i'm having trouble finding it in Win7?  I know that the driver does crash everytime that the game locks up like that...

IL2 just dont break itself especially with Graphics drivers ::)

I run almost vanilla, only Enjoyr v5.2 with the settings indicated on post #240.  For drivers through 10.7 CrossFire enabled always produced a crash at 100% mission load.  Starting with 10.8 CrossFire enabled would not crash at 100% for the first few start-ups only.  So, your statement is incorrect and quite frankly insulting to kleinnak.  IL-2 does exhibit intermittent failure depending on driver version.

kleinnak, please revert to a vanilla patched install, with CrossFire disabled, then systematically add mods one at a time to observe for failure.  I do not run the mods you have indicated, but as Flanker35M has mentioned, Ecran Wide is also a culprit.  Also refer to post #254, there is a CrossFire bug involving AA set to other than 16X

Thanks Porksmuggler, I'll give that a try.  Unfortunately it will probably have to wait until next week, when I have a day or two off again so i can devote the time.  As for the crashes, what you're going through sounds a lot like what I have, with the first few starting up great then crashing, though for me it happens with crossfire on or off.  The mods thing is part of the issue with ultrapack though, it installs so many at once and there's only a few you can turn on and off with JSGME... i'll probably revert to an SAS ModAct installation when i do, less AC, but really none i'd be all that upset to lose, just means i'll have to tax the sas1946 servers a bit more again redownloading a few, haha.  I'll just have to adjust my testing accordingly, trying to fly missions a few times to check for crashes, instead of just seeing if the game loads (my typical test to ensure proper installation of AC).  Until then at least I can run it on directx with the AA and AF turned up all the way so the planes at least still look pretty, haha.

IL-2s implementation of DirectX is as a wrapper for OpenGL, the complication and cause for the crash is the game's implementation of hardware shaders.  You should be able to run IL-2 without hardware shaders enabled in OpenGL with the same effect as switching to DirectX.  I do not recommend DirectX mode.

Thanks for the tip, though I just reset it to opengl from directx, but now it has massive squares all over the place on the ground... happen to know which setting it is in the conf that handles the terrain?  I hate to be a pain about this... but I've been messing with as many settings as i can trying to fix it and they won't go away...

OK! Whew! I just read through all 28 gaddamn pages! I'm probably more confused than when I started!
Currently running an HD 5450 with driver package 8.7. Upgrading to 10.12, lets see if perfect mode works...standby

I think its updated now, heres what the CCC displays
Driver Packaging Version   8.801-101125a-109809C-ATI
Catalystâ„¢ Version           10.12
Provider                           ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version                   8.01.01.1105
2D Driver File Path           /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version                   8.14.10.0798
OpenGL Version                   6.14.10.10362
Catalystâ„¢ Control Center Version   2010.1125.2142.38865

EDIT: And heres what "perfect mode" gets me, what a crock.
