The same thing happened to me some time ago. :)
Take a look at the "Textflags" settings in your "conf.ini".
One of these settings is causing that issue. ;)

I remember your post about it, but damned if I can find it in this 28 page behemoth!
I just copy-n-pasted the recommended settings for the conf.ini from the ultrapack website. Now it works on perfect mode but kills my FPS, especially the clouds.

Just noticed that now its running the FPS displayed. How do I turn that off?

where on the ultrapack website did you get the conf.ini?  the only one I found doesn't have hardwareshaders enabled, which is silly.

post #239 on this thread should be "perfect" for ATI/AMD cards, try that and if you are having framerate problems then, there are a few settings to change first that will help (like TexCompress, etc.)

here, although I suspect it may be a little bit dated.

I will check out #239, thanks!
EDIT: that hurt!
(When running the black death) FPS Low was 18, high 78, and average was 36.873. with the settings from the UP site I was getting 23, 115, and 53.37 respectively.
And the damn FPS counter still runs all the time, WTF?

The 5450 is in the same category as the 9800XT circa '04 I think...

I would try the post #239 settings with the following changes:

TexCompress=1
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1
Specular=2
and turn down Forest and Water

Will do.
I think I need to just invest in a new graphics card. This one came with the PC and it seems to be the bottle neck for a few other issues as well 9dont get me started on contrails ::))
Tried the above, still only getting 12,79, 39.524in the black death. Oh well my rig just cant handle perfect. Hell with it set on excellent and using the default ATI radeon setting in IL2set I only get 22, 92, 49.765.

it was worth a try, the hardwareshaders are the culprit, shouldn't take too much more of a graphics card.  CrossFire doesn't work in IL-2, so the numbers I've posted previously are technically what a single 4850 might do.

I would suggest at least a GTX460 or a HD5770 though for "perfect". It's amazing to say that for a decade old simulator :0

Well, unfortunatelly for me, I have a low end graphics card. :P
I run IL-2 with all settings in max, but in a low resolution (1024x768).
You can try it until you upgrade your graphics card. ;)

Never thought about screwing with the resolution, thanks.

S!

 New AMD 6970HD installed and running. Very good performance in IL-2 even with cranked up FSAA! Sweetness :D Just waiting a release or two for the drivers to mature a bit..this card has potential!

I have a new computer now i7, k875, 2.93GHz, 6GB RAM and 2 video cards ATI HD 5750 1024 MB, but even better than my old computer, not so much as I thought, someone here told me that those 2 cards are not served with il2, but are not supposed to have dual power graphics?
