Thinking about crossfirex...

Where we could suggest some feature and report bugs at ATI?
E-mail, site?
I think it isn't so difficult because crossfirex works without hardware shaders. ;)
IL-2 has almost the same profile as Quake 4.
Could somebody who has contact with them suggest this for us at ATI, please? Flanker35M? :)

Thank you.

On my opinion, if later 10 years ATI has not been interested in improving their drivers and XFire compatibility with IL-2, nowadays you won't get anything from them. It's a real pity. Because ATI is working perfectly with other titles.

After ten years, they fixed "block text" and "blue hue", because of some guys requesting. ;)

Fantastic. ATI only needed 10 years for a minimal improvement (I have been reading whishlists and complaints on ATI drivers for years in UbiZoo and SimHQ for this game)... Now you only will have to wait several years more to get XFire working.

Finally people get tired and later go for the easy solution: next card, Nvidia (myself). Less problems and better performance, SLI operative, etc. ATI drivers support sucks. Don't they need my money? Ok. I know what I have to do (I did).

Well, unfortunatelly I don't have money to buy the more expensive owner card. :(
So, if I could try to talk to ATI then I would. :)
Here, in my country, we have heavy taxes on imported things. :'(
So, when I have some money, I will buy another ATI card because of cost vs benefit. ;)

S!

 I experimented a bit with my AMD 6970HD card and it's performance in IL-2. I tried to pinpoint which setting in conf.ini affected FPS most and found it. LandShading=3! This gives the smoke a shadow etc. and affected up to nearly 20FPS in some places, which is a lot. So now I turned it to 2 and FPS is far better and I do not miss the shadows of smoke etc. Just worth trying :)

Hi,
anyone here using a 5870 with windows 7/64? Sticking to cat 10.8 i sometimes still experience glass parts or prop discs not displaying in external view.
Would like to know your working conf.ini or CCC settings then.

THX a lot

S!

 Cheruskerarmin, check out the latest Catalyst 11.1's at either www.rage3d.com or wait until they are released tomorrow. I use them with very nice performance and no artifacts. Also noticed that could use NV settings without negative effects on FPS or anything. My conf.ini below.

[Render_OpenGL]
TexQual=3
TexMipFilter=3
TexCompress=0
TexFlags.UseDither=1
TexFlags.UseAlpha=0
TexFlags.UseIndex=0
TexFlags.PolygonStipple=0
TexFlags.UseClampedSprites=0
TexFlags.DrawLandByTriangles=0
TexFlags.UseVertexArrays=1
TexFlags.DisableAPIExtensions=0
TexFlags.ARBMultitextureExt=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineExt=1
TexFlags.SecondaryColorExt=1
TexFlags.VertexArrayExt=1
TexFlags.ClipHintExt=0
TexFlags.UsePaletteExt=0
TexFlags.TexAnisotropicExt=1
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1

TexFlags.TexEnvCombine4NV=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=1
TexFlags.DepthClampNV=0
TexFlags.SeparateSpecular=1
TexFlags.TextureShaderNV=1

HardwareShaders=1

Shadows=2
Specular=2
SpecularLight=2
DiffuseLight=2
DynamicalLights=1
MeshDetail=2
VisibilityDistance=3

Sky=2
Forest=3
LandShading=3
LandDetails=2

LandGeom=3
TexLarge=1
TexLandQual=3
TexLandLarge=1

VideoSetupId=2
Water=2
Effects=1
ForceShaders1x=0

PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.0625
PolygonOffsetUnits=-3.0

 The new Catalyst Control Panel is quite nice and I post my settings for it for reference. I use 1920x1200 resolution so if using lower, feel free to experiment with the FSAA.

Anti-aliasing: 2xEQ
AA filter: Standard, no Morphological filtering

Anisotropic filtering: Application controlled
Tessellation: AMD Optimized

Catalyst AI: High Quality, surface format optimization OFF
VSync: Always on

Antialiasing mode: Supersample(Quality)
Triple buffer: Off

Thank you very much! Will try out this as soon as possible.
The newest one is still catalyst 10.12. Found these threads regarding 11.1a (hotfix) and downloaded the .exe but there might be a vsync-problem in IL-2?

BTW do i need the open CL driver (or some of the other stuff there) too? Usually i just download the display driver file and the CCC (for the german language) seperately.  THX

Cross your fingers gents, I just ordered an HD 4670 AGP to replace my old Geforce 6200 which is really... ahemm...
The new card is announced to arrive about next week and I hope I'll have less problems than many others I've read of.

Best regards - Mike
