S!

This blocky text corruption seems to be related to the new 5xxx series of ATI, not the older 3 or 4-series. If you want to check driver version, Right Click on desktop, select Catalyst Control Center and there Settings(top left corner) -> Information Center. There is shows individual driver component versions and a tab for card info.

FYI, I get the corruption with my 4850 too. I'm still running 9.8. IL2 runs fine with that, and I'm not running any other games at the moment, so I'll wait for the "official fix" if one ever comes. Are you guys getting significantly better performance in IL2 with 10.1 or is it only useful for other games?

BadAim..the new drivers gave a better average FPS and also better FPS in certain scenes of the Black Death track. But the most peculiar thing is that while playing tracks the clouds look kind of too bright etc. But when flying a Quick Mission for example they are perfectly fine even I swing the views etc. I think ATI and Team Daidalos should discuss this together as IL-2 is far from dead even the new and almighty SoW is coming out some day..it is not all about eye candy ;)

Hi to all, am i only one who doesen't get Ati card to work in openGL mode at all? I have tested everything from old drivers to newest onest but no joy. All i get in openGL mode
is "greenish" screen and game runs like slideshow. DX mode works but i hate to play it with year 2000 graphics in 2010...card is HD4850 1GB.

Anyone willing to help me with this one? I would really like to have graphics work in openGL...I have latest (10.1) drivers now and atioglxx.dll in 1946 root folder, what else i have to do?

DB605, I am working on it ;) Tested a bit more today and noted a VERY peculiar thing. If I set Effects=0 then the blocky text does not clear no matter what settings I use in conf.ini. But if I set Effects=1, they clear within seconds after starting a track or mission?! WTF?! This with Catalyst 10.1's. Also with Cat 10.'1 I have to use Catalyst AI on Standard so the ground texture does not look like squares and flicker. With setting Standard all looks normal. And I do not use atioglxx.dll in IL2 folder. Conf.ini is very much as I have posted before.

From my understanding the 10.1 is still fudged.  It is suppossed to support OpenCL for openGL.  Seems the drivers are relying on .Net for reference.  Boys it will be a while before they sort it out.  They are putting out more Video Cards to keep up with Nvidia.  About a new card a month. So I think the software will suffer for a bit untill someone sits down and has a cup of coffee and a donut or two.  I experienced the same thing using my 3870, and 4850.  I was using the 9.12 Cat.  Went back to 9.10 driver and all is well.  I'm now using a 5750 with the native drivers that come on the disk.  Still waiting for some good reviews on a new driver.  Everyone is pissed about the 10.1(very dissappointed).  Like what was said above, it works kinda sorta, maybe sometimes or not depending on how new a card you have.

Im using this Beta Driver Packaging Version 8.70. Symtoms of use with IL-2 is distorted text for first launch. How ever with a short burst of MG it reverts to normal text.
The beta is version 10.X and im my opinion rocks as far as its graphic's display. Remember IL-2 is a before product and the GPU makers are in the now and future productivity, keepin up with the Jones.
Well take it or leave it, if there is a demand for "8.70" I will post the, or the link where I d/l ed it from. But hey its a really big d/l.

I got the 8.70 package on disc, but can't be bothered to change driver every day ;) I just launch game, run a track with FPS showing, wait for text to clear and join MP games via IP directly and can play no problem. I really hope ATI gets IL2 to work, but it also requires some communication with MG/TD.

If you have a 5800-series Radeon and experiencing the grey screen crash, take a look HERE. Personally had only 2 of these crashes in first days of using the card in december, after that no problems except IL-2..
