S!

I know ;) But it is not a big deal to find the IP of a server, launch game, play a track to clear the text and join :) These drivers give really nice performance in IL-2. About those pictures for you, they are being sorted and all. Also trying to get some from the museum itself, they have ready photo packs :D

10.2's offer good perfromance, but the blocky text and blue hue is still there. There was a few things though. These drivers gave better FPS than previous ones AND in the Black Death track earlier the clouds looked funny, kind of too bright. Now they look normal again. So some improvement there. Make sure to file the feedback form at ATI with detailed description how to reproduce these problems, they are looking at IL2 at ATI :)

Hello all,  I've just installed 10.2 . Windows 7 and I still have the blocky text.  So I've downloaded the 64bit ver. of the 9.10 dll.  Haven't checked it out yet.  Have been trying to use older versions of the drivers for 64 bit including the 9.10.  All I got was very slow and jerky mouse movement to start off with.  Then I switched to Direct x mode and the mouse is normal now.  But Direct X? What a let down..LOL.  I got the acceleration back by loading 10.2 with my mouse but the blotch is back. Will install your fix using the 64 bit version of 9.10 dll in the root.  I'm duel booting so I may just install 10.2 in XP with 32 bit 9.10 in the root also.  One thing that I have never used it VSync.  I'll try it out for more FPS. I thought it had to be off for some reason. :-[.  I'm going back to check out your config.ini settings and what others have done to keep my bird from turning blue and purple.  I will let you know of any major changes these fixes make asap.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
Viper.
By the way I have the Sapphire 5750HD 1gig card.

No, this is personal email between certain individual and ATI's driver team. They are seriously looking into this. Oleg is also aware of the work done. So keep thumbs up guys!

Man, that would be awesome for them to include IL2. Especially how old the Sim is. Cool Flanker thanks for going to bat for us.

Well I'm glad to hear that something is finally happening with the ATI team and Us.  I've also sent in my grievence.  Well right now installed 10.2 put in the 9.10 dll and it didn't work Win XP.  Guess I don't really have a root directory.  I run my ver. of the games from a folder called C:\IL2Games\2.0,2.0tigersounds etc.  The main files are in those folders so I can run a switcher that links to Hyperlobby.  Maybe putting the dLL in a folder and putting it in those main file structures will help.  And yes having forest=2 sucked but 3 rocks. go figure.  I've made a new folder called Text fix and put the dLL in there.  That seems to have fixed it.

S!

Do not thank me, it is a team effort we all are doing here :) Oleg wrote and did share some info why ATI does not work with IL-2 as it should and it is not Oleg or his team to blame in this. But it is good that ATI is really looking at it now, the feedback forms with detailed info about the issues and how to reproduce them did help. And I understand ATI's POV, if you do not fill the form and let them know about an issue, why/how to fix it? So use the Feedback Form. The problem in IL-2 is mainly with the OpenGL and use of hardware shaders aka Perfect mode. Also Catalyst AI has problems with IL-2, it has been reported to the driver team. Now we have to wait a bit :)

As of IL-2 settings. Forest=0 or 3 give the best performance. Forest at 1 or 2 actually is worse?! I tested some settings last night and it seems Polygon Stipple, Use Palette, Use Dither have some effect on the FPS, mainly the maximum you can get from the Black Death track. With my current settings I get very good performance without the blue hue(Vertex Arrays OFF), but blocky text is still there until we get fix. I can post my conf.ini below, using the leaked 10.3's on my 5870HD.

I stopped using the dll in root folder of IL-2. I just fire up the game, run BD track until text clears and exit it. Go to main menu nad join multiplayer games with IP. Of course a bit more work but these newer drivers really have good performance in IL-2..or what do you think of this at 1920x1200, Perfect mode: Min 25 Max 293 Avg 95 FPS :)

Very seldom do I get to post anything here except when I am having problems.  But I just wanted to add my two cents (and it's probably worth about that much to you guys).  I have installed the Catalyst 10.2 drivers, and they seem to be doing fine.  My monitor will now go to sleep (wouldn't with 10.1's).  The block black text isn't gone, but I am using the atioglxx thing provided here in this thread, so the text deal isn't an issue.  I have never really paid much attention to frame rates and such, so I'm unable to comment on that.  When your eyes are 67 yrs old (but trifocal assisted), slower frame rates are most likely a help ;)

I do have one question, if you will permit.  What is this "black death track" I keep reading about?  Is it something that comes with the game?  Do I have it someplace and just don't realize it?

Thank you for any help, again.
