actually, that's not quite the end of the story, after all.....
i managed to get it to this point:



as you can see, it's not picking up the engine meshes or something.
any further attempts at editing the hier, however, end up with this:



how on earth this can cause the executable to fail, i have no idea.
if i restore this mod to the pre-edited step, then the game loads normally again...
i'll chalk it down to this install just being beyond help.
anyway, at this point i will welcome any suggestions to get the 3mg3e version to show these updates...

Hi Malone, I had an issue with DBW and new full monty last week when I decided to install it. The cause of the issue was my own fault because after I'd installed the first 5 packs I ran the sim to see how some of the planes looked. The Lancaster was all pink because a later pack installed an updated .msh file for it to improve the 3D. Not realising an issue I did 5 more packs and did the same. Sim started but I couldn't select QMB as there was only the background on screen, no user interface. The only way to get out of the sim was to use task manager to shut it down and, during the shut down, I got the same .exe problem box as you did.

I remembered having this a couple of years ago and after racking my brain for the solution to the fault remembered that the issue was within QMB. I went into the 'Quicks' folder and deleted the 'last' file. This reset QMB and got me back my interface and stopped the problem. I put it down to incorrect .msh files being run in QMB.

I tried the DBW 3D fix and still has the old Cowl look.

thats strange because on my install, it works, I have even spotted the BMW logo in the new radials texture
have you added the lines in the air.ini and plane.ru and weapons.ru as suggested by the readme?
