... well since these are new high resolution 1024*1024 damage layers, the only way to reduce their size is to go back to the stock 512x512 ones and thus lose the high definition ones VPMedia made ...  ???

We can reduce the size a lot by using SFS packing when the collection is more or less finished. However, in development phase those need even a couple GB of disc space when the collection is expanded. Making a new SFS many times when more planes are done is just not feasible.

Birdman I took your advice and made the early 109's with heavy MG damage only layer for damage2o but unfortunately some holes still appear on the wings (none on the fuselage) so its a bit confusing...

Early Bf 109 wings still have the old E-1 meshes so they still have alpha damage. Only the remodeled parts lost their alpha damage. We can keep those holes there, but I can also quickly edit the meshes to remove those alpha holes if you think it is better.

I'd say that you could delete the Bf-109B/C/D wingholes in the next dbw update and I'm gonna release the mg damage only layers. Thanks!

Any chance you could take a look to LaGG-3's, unfortunately they have no small bulletholes at all, only those big holes from larger calibers.
All four damage layers and mat files are in the extractet planefolder, maybe its i bug in the 3d model
