my feelings exactly - it is claims to fame, "the best" "without this, the game sucks" "this, or nothing else" "either this or nothing"...
"without this, the BoB is a joke" "this is THE BEST nightfighter of the BoB"...

that turn a reasonable request into a ridiculous freak show.
from me, such statements, both for the object, and for the people making the request get very harsh critique, and nothing but critique, because it puts the element that is requested in the propaganda spotlight.

Because such requests do not teach us something objectively useful, and show that the requester is not objective either.

The Defiant is interesting not because of its combat record but simply because it was a different concept. Flying it in the sim would present new challenges, maybe some insurmountable?  As AI it will be a different and interesting target for the 109's. Online, if used in limited numbers, it could produce the odd surprise.

Ultimately, if a competent modder wants to make it it will get done.

Thunda - my post was not aimed at you or anyone in particular, so I hope I haven't offended you.

But on the few occasions that the subject of the Defiant has cropped up, it seems to get a fair, or should I say unfair, kicking. It was just another a/c that was designed for one purpose and then thrown into a situation that was well outside its envelope.

No offence was intended.

Cheers - Redfox

I simply says that the defiant cannot be used as anything, in Clod they just fly in formation and defend themselves. I love that plane but there is no way of using them. I ll be glad if someone take the work . But for me the defiant was the biggest dissapointment in clod

Yes, it was an Oceanic Wing WIP. Then God came along and earth quaked it straight to hell, apparently.
Last info was a long time ago. Same as pretty much everything else those guys were working on. I hear they are working on Rise of Flight or some such now... No more IL-2...

Annnnyway...

+1 to all the above. It'd be great to have a Lysander, Whitely, Hampden, Maryland etc etc etc. In fact, is this the first request for a Maryland? Surprisingly important plane considering she's little known. Fingers x'd for any of these girls to catch a modder's eye  :)

i think it a very good idea for other interested 3D makers to start their own model of this if they're so inclined.  in fact, if someone will do it, i'll gladly import it and get it working in game, if they want me to.  then, when the Oceanic Wing's version is done, we'd have 'two' fine models to play with, eh?  two models to choose from, hey ya can't beat that with a stick.   ;)

Boewulf

If you would like to do that Boe, I might be able to provide you with a mapped model for you to develope skin wise, and flight model. I too have waited so long because of the misfortune of the Oceanic Team, and hope they do get it and the Boomerang up and going. This is the predecesor to the Typhoons as a channel raiders, a brilliant peice if design, let down by the lack of time and resources to get the bugs out of the reverse spinning Peregrine as almost all of Rolls Royce energys were spent on the Merlin. It ranks in my favourites of all time along with the Spitfire and Gloster Meteor ( Cheers Ranwers )......

I find it somewhat amusing that someone thinks they have the exclusive rights to produce the whirlwind. You know, I might just start one now out of sheer bloody mindedness...

Okay, you go over to Oceanic Wing and tell Magpie and Wolf you are going to release a Whirlwind...............................I had to listen to them for quite awhile before they left RAF 662..

that is exactly what i am saying... nobody can make any claims in the modding world.
i love the words "screw you!" and lateƩly i often use them. i say it to ma GF quite often "i will..."
but using them in this context, even if it comes to mind, is, ummmmm, not the most peaceful of ideas.
as dinosaur says...
this is a renegade scene - part anarchy, part cooperation, part downright teamwork.
rules? few. VERY few.
