Thanks Flak. This the folder name...
P-47_fixCowlingEngines&Prop
Then inside is 3do/plane and all the planes folders.

Should look like this:

D:\IL-2 Sturmovik - 1946\#DBW\00_Fixed cowling engine & props\3do\plane\P-47xxx

any/all fixes for a paticular plane should go into like folders

Wrong:

D:\IL-2 Sturmovik - 1946\#DBW\00_Fixed cowling engine & props\3do\P-47_fixCowlingEngines&Prop

or

D:\IL-2 Sturmovik - 1946\#DBW\00_Fixed cowling engine & props\3do\plane\P-47_fixCowlingEngines&Prop

When in doubt after you unzip the files copy the 3do and paste it into  D:\IL-2 Sturmovik - 1946\#DBW\00_Fixed cowling engine & props\3do and overwrite.

To be extra safe I delete my .last.quick file  (D:\IL-2 Sturmovik - 1946\Quicks) & ~wrapper.cache (D:\IL-2 Sturmovik - 1946\#DBW) also. Few clicks of the mouse can save mega headache.

Unless of course you already knew this, then please disregard.

I have an issure with the P-47 MOD as well. I get the new 3D stuff but the new engine doesn't have the TGA file on it.
It just looks like this:

If I were to move the folder to the top it goes back to the stock engine.

Any ideas?

Pixy, Do what Ice~Eagle posted. Put 00_ in front of the folder. It worked for me. Thank you Ice~Eagle :) That did the trick.

Now if someone could tell me what happened to my older 47's...

No, not anything that would point to this as far as I can tell. I'll check into the B model thead and see if I can find anything.

Maybe corrupt/deleted file, re-download and try it again.

EDITED !

Check the folder "Textures" inside the Mod (P-47_fix engine cowling .... / 3do/Plane/Textures) image textures of the engine do not match those should be in that folder.
Check also that there is no conflict with another Mod

If that does not work I suggest you download it again, just in case.

Now if someone could tell me what happened to my older 47's...

EDITED !

Bombs, where appropriate, I have no idea that can happen, sorry. :-[

No the last pic is not your fault Jero. I just added that pic in when I saw my older 47s were messed up hoping someone may know why they were like that.. I took your mod out and I still had the problem with the older 47a. No please, its not due to your mod.:)
