I thought I'd seen a post on how to do this but perhaps I was mistaken. I would like to spawn my aircraft on the apron near the hangar and then taxi to the runway.
Is this possible?

only YOUR aircraft?
then there is a mod that reduces the airfield radius, the zone where you are forced to spawn at the end of the runway.

it does not work well for AI flights and not with a lot of campaigns...

Yes, just my aircraft. Thanks. I'll search under "airfield radius".

Perhaps it was 4.11 but I thought there was some sort of method using pre-positioned stationary aircraft then "linking" or "setting" your a/c to that. Maybe I'm mixing up simultaneous multi-aircraft takeoffs.

tomoose - you just answered your own question on the other post about test runways

You use the test runways to spawn anywhere on the map. Sometimes it will work and you can taxy to the main runway other times the height difference makes it difficult.

Few missions out there use this technique quite well....

There is an old mod that does the trick:

IMHO this mod could be incorporated in DBW.

Imho "reduced airfield influence radius" mod would screw up lot of missions where the author isnt placed takeofff landing points carefully. Here's an example how to do a mass takeoff, you need flat land and thats all:
