Yeah, interesting plane. Since it was basically a Yak-3 prototype I don't think it would be an extremely time consuming project (but I might be wrong, I have no clue about modding). Only two were built - and the one on the picture below is the first prototype - the second was already equal to Yak-3 in appearance (two UBS machineguns, no chin oil radiator,...).

Basically the only thing needed for Yak-1M_second_prototype is to take a Yak-3 and change the VK-105PF-2 (1240 hp) engine with a VK-105PF (1180 hp) - effectively only a FM tweak. Speed should reduce about 20km/h (650 -> 630 km/h at optimal altitude and 560 ->540 on the ground) and rate of climb should improve about 100 m/min: 1100 m/min -> 1200 m/min at low altitudes.

It's not about the plane.
This is a modification of Yak-1B produced in fairly large quantities. Sign was then used again.
This creates a further modification of Yak-3 (1943).
Aircraft were used in the Normandy-Neman regiment, and 1PLM.

Yak-1M is a development of the Yak-1b, better aerodynamics, plat of a metal girder.
The engine is the same as the Yak-1b, but changed scoops (hundereds similar to those of the Yak-7). Probably without the reflector sheet. 20mm cannon armament and a 12.7 mm machine gun.
The difference of the Yak-3 is a plywood covering the fuselage.
Stood by the tail.

There is some confusion in different sources about "Yak-1M".

Russian sources use this designation for a couple of prototypes from which ultimately Yak-3 was developed. This is also the officially used Yak-1M designation.

Western sources, particularly older ones, use "Yak-1M" for Yak-1B late production. We already have that plane in game, just not under "Yak-1M" name.

Between the stock Yak-1's and those made by good people of Aviaskins, the entire Yak-1 range has been well covered. We already have them all save for a few oddballs and prototypes.

Actually, designations are mixed.
I use from polish sources.

"There is some confusion in different sources about 'Yak-1M'."

Not really-- there is just a lot of poor, outdated material still floating around. The only two aircraft that were named "Yak-1M" were prototypes of the Yak-3 built at Saratov during 1943.

The model of the Yak-1 with a cut-down rear fuelage, new armament, and other sundry changes had no official designation other than "Yak-1". It was known as the Yak-1 s uluchshenniy obzorom, bronirovaniem i voorzheniem at the Factory, and was usually referred to as "Yak-1b" by the VVS (but never by the Government). This model started manufacture from Series 99. The absurd RAF camoflage shown in the above Polish source shows its age clearly, while the line drawings are much later from AJ Press.

"Between the stock Yak-1's and those made by good people of Aviaskins, the entire Yak-1 range has been well covered. We already have them all save for a few oddballs and prototypes."

Has anyone made a new 3d rear fuselage for the 'usual' Yak-1 with the half-round windows aft of the cockpit? I have searched and searched and never found such. This is the typical Yak-1 arrangement (not the clear rear section) as seen from Series 49 onward. For correct skinning, this version is most desperatey needed!
