I wonder why German bomber design increasingly moved away from 'conventional' cockpit design, while post-war most nations mostly stuck to the conventional cockpits, with a few exceptions like the B-29.

I believe the answer is in this episode of "Wings of the Luftwaffe". Essentially to boost morale and effectiveness of crewmen by having them all in close proximity around the cockpit. I hope that's what you were looking for, and highly recommend watching all three parts and other episodes as well.

It looks like the Do-17 Z with the skin made for Do 217 (by PA-Asis?). Actually Do-17 P could be easily derived from Z. I'd love to see in game also Do-17 E or F, with very different BMW inline engines. BTW, the ones in the B&W pic are F and not P. ;)
