For Preussen, in a post of REDFOX
Quote
I've put a few class files together to put Gio's SM 81 in its own slot.

https://www.mediafire.com/download.php?evgitfykqk3jov4

It was tested in DBW 1.71 only... so I don't know what will happen in other installs.

Drop it the usual folder and add to air.ini

SM_81        air.SM_81 2            NOINFO i01  SUMMER

plane_ru entry

SM_81           SM.81, 1935

Cheers - Redfox

As it uses the Ju-52_3mg4e.fmd then it should also work in UP2.01 - Well it does in mine

For have the SM81 and the TANTE JU.

Greetings GIO

Many thanks Gio!!  :D :P

I have faced the same one. The plane is great, but let to ask to fix the bug. It is very needed for bomber missions for SCW.
Thanks in advance.

Wow, great plane, thanks to all involved!
Just a little bug found: bomber sight is bugged (increase-decrease depression doesn't work). I know it's not important for fighter-players, but I hope this could be fixed for all bomber-players.  ;D

Hi

Not a bomb-aimer myself, but could you explain exactly what controls you mean by increase-decrease depression!

Cheers - Redfox

I've meant increase-decrease angle of bombing sight. It is possible to put speed and hight into bombing sight, but it is impossible to put the angle, which always remains 0. Bombing sight of Ju-52/3 works normally. Please help to fix it. Thank You in advance.

Stefan2

My problem was that my Ju-52/3 increase-decrease angle didn't work, so that was copied over to the SM 81. But I've sorted the Ju-52 problem now.

Bear with me, cause RL is total mayhem at the moment and interfering with Il-2 time, but I will get round to it.

Might even take up bomb-aiming......

For Stefan2 and any else who may be interested....

Here's the fix for the bombsight...just overwite the original class files.

https://www.mediafire.com/download.php?yzblwygyw1oga4o

Maybe in the future we'll get round to putting a bombsight in it like the other Italian bombers...

Cheers - Redfox

P.S. This a/c was my 1st sortie into working with class files so thanks for your patience

No, thank you, Redfox. I find these community efforts on individual aircraft, maps etc, where different people chip in with what they do best very impressive.  :)

This plane causes FMB to crash. I am using DBW 1.7.1. On 21 May, David Prosser mentioned that he had the same problem. However, on 28 May, he posted a message suggesting that he had found a fix. However, I can't find any mention of a fix in this tread. Can someone post the solution to the FMB crash.

My log file was very long. So, I've only posted the last portion of it below where there are mentions of errors.

Cheers,

Riptide

This happens sometimes with some frankenplane designs. There is a crude but effective way around: deploy the aircraft on the map, THEN click on "Show". When the image of the aircraft is there you can put the aircraft on the map without a crash.

As I said: I know some old frankens had this bug, and there is a way to fix the code (but don't ask me how, I'm a complete NOOB when it comes to that stuff) but until then you can still use it in FMB using the trick above!

Poltava,

I was trying to get the second mission in Death Over the Mediterranean to work. I opened that mission in FMB and selected the SM-81. I noticed that an image of the plane does not show up in the window. However, I was allowed to add waypoints for a second SM-81. I erased the second SM-81 waypoints and tried to play the mission. When the mission loaded, I found my S231 was positioned above the runway at zero speed. My wingman and I promptly crashed and burned on the runway. So, unless there is some other remedy, I'll just have to wait until later when Dreamk works his skillful magic to yield a SM-81 :).

Cheers,

Riptide

Do not select 'Show' in FMB window for this a/c as it will crash FMB; also as there is no individual skins for it then there is no need to select individual a/c as this will also crash FMB.

The workaround in FMB if you want to fly this a/c in your flight is to select another a/c type, insert all your waypoints etc, ensure all a/c of your flight have default skins selected and 'no markings' selected. Save the mission and close FMB to taskbar (the 'Windows' button); open the mission file in Notepad and change the class type of your flight to 'Class air.SM_81'. Re-load in FMB and select the weapons load that you require. Play the mission and it should work.

Riptide-One - you may have either a 'numberOn = 1' in either the SM81 or any of DreamKs SCW a/c OR an incorrect weapons entry if your a/c crashes and burns at startup - might be worth checking you mission file.

I have noticed that with some of the new SCW a/c if you select 'Markings' On in FMB then the player's a/c will 'crash 'n' burn' at startup. If the offending a/c is timed to start later than mission start then it won't turn up, but if you cycle thro' the a/c selection you'll see the offending a/c in the 'pink' and broke.

Hope this helps anyone who wants to use the 'stop-gap' SM81.

Cheers - Redfox
