Runway/Taxway Markers
« on: May 21, 2012, 01:19:05 PM »

Directional markers would be great, especially for UP/online versions and perhaps offline if 4.12 releases with the ability to spawn from parking.  However, for online I often find it difficult to locate the runway from a parking location, and if up in a structured mission flight with requirements to takeoff from a specific runway, it can be difficult to find that specific taxiway short position.  Not sure what they had in RL especially on airstrips that were relatively new, but likely they has something even if a sheet of plywood with a spray painted arrow and runway ID.

I guess an update such as this would tie to a large comprehensive maps review/update effort for given airfields that would have had markers.  Perhaps a tall order?!

Well, I think a simple wooden sign covering 360 degree in steps of 10 degree would do for a first try. I don't know how they did it during this time, but today the taxiways to the runway are called "Alpha 21" for the first taxiway which goes to RWY 210, for example, and maybe with the length of the RWY from that Point. (well at least on the airfield I'm working at.)
Could be signs the mission maker sets up so no need for a huge map overhaul.

Or if you use 4.11, use the landing beacons. They give the heading and altitude above sealevel on the map if you zoom in.
