Here's a patch which adds the french Scheneider CA.1 tank to your DBW-1916 v1b5 install with a new, weathered skin:

(now in the v2 pack!)

Extract to your game folder and overwrite ini files.

The tank is made by Gio:

Now that is really a nice looking French Scheneider 1 tank!  8) Love the little skin details on it.
Excellent all around.
Great Model , THANKS GIO!! Thanks also to VPmedia for adding it into the new update.

This game has so much going for it now that a guy doesn´t even have to fly anymore. Just passing the time
looking around the great map landscapes and looking at the cool 10,000+ objects that are in the game.
Model and Diorama making fans will surely spend hundreds of hours creating realistic looking battlefield and town scenes
with these cool objects. I don´t thnk I will ever go back to making models and dioramas either, this is just too cool to see!  ;D

Vpmedia, is it possible to add a few missions (scramble for example) in the Quick Mission Builder? I think it would be nice if you could see some moving objects and WW1 scenery while you take-off.

I dont use the MissionPro mod because it turns the text into blue and red but I'm sure that you can edit the mission templates in Missions\QuickQMBPro folder. I really liked the old QMB mod where you could add your custom maps via conf.ini, but I could not find it anywhere.

I'm with you 100% Max - this sim is the main reason I gave up on model railroading after 10 years, two of my layouts, and four of my friends' - there's nothing cooler than flying over a scene you've built. Plus, of course, the instant gratification; where 100 hours would get you two, maybe three, square feet of layout passably complete, 100 hours here can do an entire airfield.

Correct you are Plowshare!
In much less time you can be making a game "diorama" with these IL-2 model-objects and it will defenitly make
for you hundreds of kilometers (or miles) of great scenary to fly around and see up close.
Have you noticed the cool trains in this game?  8)
They even got new armored train car-boxes like they used to have back in the WW1 and WW2 years. Not to mention the
diferent loads they can carry on them (or you put on them) and even those huge cannons on rail cars! AHA! Super cool!

The neat thing is, its almost like painting a model,
because you can also paint diferent skins for those steam train locomotives and train car-boxes too.
Imagine for a minute... an original skin-painted "Flying Scotsman" steam locomotive... pulling some new box-cars (with
painted skins) to look like the Ringling-Brothers & Barnum & Bailey Circus train-box-cars transporting all sorts of wild
animals inside of them !!  ;)

Anything is possible!
... The only limitation ..... is your imagination!

So you can have a "personalized" IL-2 Object/Train/Tank/Truck/anything you may wish.
As long as you don´t mess around with the actual game workings for these models, you can paint them and make them your
own unique machines to the delight of your eyes. "Pure Eye-Candy"  ;D

This really is the toy box I always dreamed of as kid. Last night was the first chance I had to spend a few hours with V5 and it just gets better. Having read the posts about creating diorama's it really inspired me. So I created a tank scene on the Somme Summer map. Took great pleasure placing each item, just as I did  as kid with my Airfix kits and figures. Only now, they move and fight and I can be part of it! :) :)

I sometimes really do feel like a big daft kid in the world's best toy shop - know what I mean??? :)

I know exactly what you mean! This is the only place I know of where you get a new present every couple of days or so!

Il-2 today can be defined as a some kind of environment simulator. Realistic scenes can be created with tons of objects over huge areas, and you can fly above, or just take part  yourself in the action. Driveable vehicles such as jeep are reality, driveable tanks are WIP and will be launched one day or another, and possibly one day some crazy guy will make a foot soldier (or civilian) controlable like a driveable jeep so we can take a walk in the scenes (or even shoot a gun in the battlefield). Imagine you making a high detailed airfield scene, and just after your mission you land, park your plane, then take a jeep to the debriefing's room (or simple walk there) to view your mission report? Or you are somewhere in the airfield, and a siren goes loud to report an imminent attack and scramble all pilots, and you run crazy to your plane to takeoff and repel the attackers, perhaps under enemy fire and between bomb explosions? Or even you take part in a ground battlefield as a tank or infantry soldier? Or simply take a walk around the scene and see the things happening?

All these will be reality nearly in future, as the modders progress in the development of this lovely sim. And as someone say there, the only limitation is our imagination. :)

The only thing missing, in my opinion is, the explosions and sounds. Perhaps it's possible to add a few objects like the French 75mm and the British 18 pounder field guns? It would be nice to see some explosions while flying.

Well, I would love to have and infantry frontal assault module, so that when I'm flying over the trenches I could watch from the relative safety of my cockpit.  8)  Oh, and a zeppelin.  Would love to have a zeppelin to shoot at.
