Reisenkaze: I can tell you didn't look at the readme first time did you ;) Glad you got it to work and hope you enjoy them :)

Baco: Wouldn't be hard to but there are no current planes. I STRONGLY suggest you move onto JetWar v1.2 if possible as all future jets will be using this platform (And of course, any future JetWar updates will be based upon the new missile code in v1.2)

Thnaks Anto!
My problem is that My squad is very reluctant at letting the MDS go... I´ll have to experiment with Modact configurrations to see if I can find one that suits our needs... Or investigate why the FoW system does not work in our configuratios... Thansk for everything anyways! love the Aviators team mods! For teh record, I have a DBW toenjoy the beautis, the thing is to convince my squad to go back to regular coops...

I can't say that the above mentioned peculiarities are a problem.
I just want to understand why f9f6 behaviour in flight (in the game) differs from F9f2. It is just a food for thought/testing - maybe somebody could be interested to reproduce.

The F9F-6 differs in flight to the F9F-2 because it is a DIFFERENT aircraft. Whilst they share a similar developmental lineage, the Cougar has a swept wing and tail, leading edge slats, non-conventional controls and a taller vertical stabilizer. So they will fly quite differently though they may share some similar features.

As for the pitch bob you have described, yes one does exist but it is minor and can be ameliorated by prudent trimming and fine joystick control. Since you are using a keyboard, I can't really help you as you lack all fine control to overcome some of these issues (and it makes any assessment of aircraft controls less valid).

Hello, SAS~Anto.

First, I'd like to join to congratulations and thanks for a long-waited release.
Second is a small question/request about "reverse modernization" of this F9F. I mean attaching an old-good straight wing to the prolonged fuselage of F9F-6 and getting F9F-5 and may be F9F-4 Panther. Is it possible?

I have considered it, but it will need more work than that. We have done the enlarged tail but the Panther used a different type of rudder (which will need modelling). The wing roots on the Cougar model are also different. So maybe we shall do it in the future :)

Hi Anto,good job, congratulations!

I wanted to ask if you could make a skin for the "F9F8T Cougar" Argentina Navy. Argentina was the only country that had more than Cougars to USA of course. Acquired for better training of future pilots of his numerous squads Phanters F9.

Thank you very much!

Cheers!

Loving the plane, although I did find some strange things with damage models. It seems that I'm getting odd textures in places they don't quite belong when the Cougar gets hit. Anyone else seeing this?

One of my favorite planes.
I have a problem. They show up in the list for a Quick Mission and the skins are there, when I click fly, it gets to 30% loaded and then stops, then it CTD.

Anyone have a idea on what is going on?

Thanks

Wow, finally waiting came to the end! Great job guys.

I strongly recomend using Western's & Diving Hawk's Essex SCB-125 angled deck carrier pack: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,24177.0.html as these were the carriers those beauties served on. It gives nice immersion.

Now, let's fly.

EDIT: Is there any chance to have additional gear piont at the tail? It explodes very often I try to land or take off and almost everytime when I try to land on carrier (or in this case I just lose tail).

It was mentioned that the Cougar was a totally seperate plane from teh Panther but shared the same designation. This is very common among all countries who develope aircraft and must rely on political entities to provide funding for such. About the only thing common are the parts of the cockpit, the tail, and the guns. The Germans did this with the JU-188 etc, and other aircraft since Hitler wanted to concentrate on production of AC they already had on the line. The designations are often a result of political considerations, like the German MP-44 being called a submachine gun (machinenpistole) rather than a new rifle; Adolf had already complained about the number of new weapons that were messing with production efficiency and logistics.

The USAF and USN has done this many times, including today, with the F-18E/F SuperHornet. That thing only has a basic layout in common with the original legacy Hornets, and is much larger and has almost no commonality, maybe the landing gear. BUT, they had to get it past a congress that knows little about the subject matter, so the Navy got a new strike fighter that was a totally new design.

The USAF F-86D was originally the F-95, sharing only the basic wing and landing gear with the F-86. However, despite the huge defense expenditures of the time, the USAF was developing a large number of new fighters (the century series), and didn't want to push it, so put the D designation to make Congress and the media think it was a variant of an existing plane, which it actually wasn't.
