Hi Guys,
With relation to Mediafire i've managed to dump the endless ads using ADBLOCK with chrome - however each download still takes many clicks of the 'download' button to get the file, often throwing up an 'authorize download' box. I would think each file requires 10 clicks at least !!
Other posts blame this on actions taken by providers in certain countries which under pressure from corporate interest groups are being forced into messing up certain file sharing sites. It hasn't come to an outright blocking of mediafire yet ... but you can bet your money that is what corporate interests are gunning for.
So, no matter which browser you use, as long as you don't move out of the country (a drastic measure for sure) you'll probably still encounter this problem.
One solution is to use a trick and play dirty - make your browser pretend it is located in another country. There are add-ons or plug-ins to do this for Firefox ... one of them is called 'Stealthy' ...
http://www.stealthy.co/I'm lucky in not having this problem (yet, so far, fingers crossed, knock wood), but apparently Stealthy is a good solution.
My sympathy goes out to all who have this problem. One member here with whom I sometimes correspond, has the files he transfers from mediafire or sendspace tampered with, arriving via his downloading attempts as files with 0 kb content ... a nasty trick indeed. Or else they are continually corrupted, time after time. None of which can be coincidence after so many incidents.
