does anybody think that they could add a thin smoke trail and possibly a small rocket fire below an ejection seat, like what is being fitted to the mig-21 and the couger pack?

For what aircraft? Since those two already have, we can assume you are not talking about them.

Well, not all ejection seats had rocket assist. For example, the Do-335 ejection seat used compressed springs and the F-80 seats just used an explosive charge to launch the seat clear of the acft.

yeah, I guess thats true. but still, at least for the f-84, -86s, -100, panther, mig-15/-17/-19, and whatever else fits in the "modern era"

I imagine that is probably on someone's list of "to dos", but is probably down a bit farther. We will just have to sit patiently and wait. I'm sure some enterprising modder will get around to it sooner or later. Now that the "ground work" coding is done, it should be simpler to retrofit to ealier jets.

This mod is already done. I haven't released it public yet but will eventually. The mod will allow other modders to select a custom type of ejector seat for their aircraft (as opposed to now where they are use German seats). Think I've modelled 10 different systems.
Those using springs produce no smoke. Those with gun charges (e.g. F-80/F-86 etc) produce smoke whilst later model of seats (e.g. Martin-Baker Mk. 5, Soviet SK-1 etc) use a rocket-assisted system.
Unsure when I will release but will do so when the time is appropriate. For now, there is a beta version of it include with the F9F Cougar pack

Just one question in this topic - have you dealt with the problem pilot still being virtually in cockpit until he dispatches from seat? Bc atm zero zero ejection seats make no sense bc if plane gets destroyed before pilot disattaches from his seat, he dies. Is it actually possible to solve this?
