Radar air traffic controllers!
« on: June 18, 2012, 06:25:48 PM »

As anyone noticed the recent invasion ?

There are just way too many new airplanes flying in the IL-2 skies these days!!
The skies are filled up with all sorts of crazy cool flying machines.

So,
before we have a major accident in the IL-2 skies, either the Mod-artists STOP
creating new airplanes or...

We need radar air traffic controllers!  :D

Any news on the new radar ?

Oh my gawd, Max.  There are already so many things to do with our sim, there simply isn't enough time already!!  LOL.  Could be fun, though.  8)

AMT is making one for Fishbed AFAIK.

But you know, that's a good subject to debate about.

Indeed, the way ground control works in IL-2 is absolutely nonsense and awfull, and requires some work. For example: when player asks permission to land, now matter if there is nothing or if atomic bomber just lands he is always granted, though the game knows something already lands bc it doesn't allow other AI planes to land. Also when player i landing AI planes are still given permission to land though you just asked for the same. I'm pretty sure - e.g. from how runway lights work - that there is some mehanism to check whether player has already touchdowned or not - so why doesn't the traffic control work for playersas well? Why aren't other planes pointed for another circle when player is granted permission to land? Why is player granted permission when something lands.

Even more funny is that on carriers ground control does work for players, particullary, but does - though for carriers there should be also some approach support system (up, down, left, right, fast, slow... c'mon, whatever) bc there are more and more carrier jets around, and there are awesome angled deck Essex, Clementine and Colossus class carriers around to pick them up.

The RADAR in the fishbed could be adapted to use for other planes, and Ground Control

If we do include a working radar for the initial Fishbed release, it will NOT be anything like ground control radar. In theory, this sort of radar can be done in Il-2, but it is a buttload of work.

IMO air traffic control is a pain in the ass.   ;)  I like to fly Il-2 so I don't have to deal with them.   :)

No, max, the International Aerial Transportation Safety Council of IL2 will NOT, I repeat NOT spend a peny on radar controllers until enough amount of accidents & deaths makes it worth it :P

I've probably had enough crashes by myself to justify the budgetary outlay  ;D
