NON historic skins.
« on: June 21, 2012, 01:57:12 PM »

We have loads of skins based off historic aircraft and camo but very few fun and different types of skins.  What a digi camo mustang or a 109 with tiger stripes? Just a thought

As per their website, "GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring."

Basially, this program will enable you to work with templates containing the layers of textures which ultimately comprise a skin. It's free and has a surprising amount of features which are comparable to the "store bought" programs like Photoshop and Paintshop Pro. Well worth the installation IMO.

btw; If you are searching for non-historical skins, you might try Mission4Today.

There are a lot of non-historical skins, and even pure fantasy ones... There was a skinner that did digital skins for almost every plane in game... he released entire packs (of digital camo) for each type... if I recall his name I'll put it here... I think it was "Serpiko" or something like this.

EDIT: Yes, Serpiko indeed: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads2&file=search&sa=6352

I used to do a lot of "fantasy" or "what if" skins, but my imagination isn't what it used to be so I turned my attention to trying to make historical skins. Right now that includes the F-100. Just too many of those to go off into "never never land".
