Anyone experienced rapid overheating with 6.0.16 with jets? I hardly can take off without any quick overheat messages.

Just tested the P-80C and F-86...no problems at all. You can't just leave the throttle at 100% like we did a few years ago, or you WILL overheat. You need to put more effort into managing your throttle settings.

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't complete and I wasn't talking about manual mode. I tested with a F9 cougar on auto pilot during take off. It aborted the take off while it was overheating near the end of the runway. I tried both expert and non-expert mode and some AI behavior seems to have changed for me between 6.0.15 and .16. The readme makes no mention of it and I just like to know if others see this happen also with .16.

I tested the F9 on autopilot takeoff...no problems. Must be an issue on your end.

THere has been an update that corrects much of the over heating problem, as a few weeks ago I could't get any jet up, and they all caught fire if I tried. It seemed to have just been accepted by most, but then a modification came out in the updates that apparently fixed it.

Make sure you have the auto updater for HSFX and run it. That's what worked for me anyway.

Oh, well that's odd, but so is all this computer tech. Aviation tech is far more logical.

Aviar,

The overheating is not the only issue I have, AI seem to be another one.

I just uninstalled hsfx 6.0.17 (just upgraded) to verify some basic settings and possibly reinstall it completely.

First of all I reinstalled my vanilla il2 4.11.1 and did a few single missions. To my surprise I now also get some very different AI behavior when I order my flight to attack an enemy ground column. With 4.11.1 all wingmen attack the ground targets and drop their payload like I expected and like it should.

However, when I give the attack 'ground enemy vehicles' command with 6.0.16/17 all of my wingmen immediately drop their boms, perform some crocodile death roll and dive down to attack the enemy vehicles with their guns only.

I was a bit surprised to see this since I thought hsfx 6.x was based on 4.11.1. I expected to see similar AI behavior. Is hsfx 6.x based on il2 4.11 or 4.11.1? if so, what could explain this difference? Are there perhaps some mods in hsfx 6 that could cause this?

The HSFX dev team always maintains that their mod is based on version 4.11.1. However, it's clear that some key files have been edited. To be fair, the nature of modding is to edit files so this has to be expected.

If you have a particular issue, I would suggest sending a detailed report to the HSFX team.

Aviar,

Well, I think I've figured it out I guess. I went back to a plain vanilla il2 with just Ton's 4.11.1 mod (0.001 beta..) and used that 'buttons' file. Now, no more quick overheating and more 4.11.1 AI as it looks after testing a few missions. Any attempt to use another buttons file (latest one to be used with Tiger sound pack for example) changes some behavior of existing non-modded 1946 planes like the Ta183 as well.

I tested with Ta183 which overheated while still on the runway carrying a few X4 missiles. No overheat messages appeared when I used Ton's small buttons file (851 Kb). When I tried the latest buttons (~2.4 Mb) weird things started to happen like very quick overheating.

Does the buttons not only add new fm's for new planes and not touch existing ones?

Crazyflak,

Well, I'm now trying to find a buttons file that sticks as close to the original 4.11.1, but will allow me to use sound and map mods  ;D

Is there such a buttons file? Secondly, is there a way to compare the button files to see what has changed?

Buttons wont change the way you add maps.

Sounds like you need to do a modact install. But really I'm mean whats the point? Play stock 4,11 or HSFX 6 or one of the beta modacts.
Those are your choices as of now.
