High altitude sky/horizon
« on: June 28, 2012, 02:08:39 PM »

Is it possible to greatly increase the visibility distance at high altitude so that instead of seeing a small circle of ground surrounded by a ring of sky-blue, you see something more like this?

Also, I don't really like the color of the sky - it should be more cyan, right now it is gray-blue. And when you are really high, above you there is dark blue. This should be black.

This is all at a height of 70,000 ft (about 21,000 m)

yeah, it sure sounds like you're wanting to go stratospheric, which the game engine was never designed for, and i can assure you that this isn't going to be possible.
next stop, moonbase alpha! :D

Try flying any version from 4.09 and earlier.  The high alt. sky in those looks like what you're looking for.  It took years to get it changed  ::) but it's much better now (unless you're flying a U-2).
BTW, I love U2, saw them live last summer.  Oh, wait a minute...

With my F-4J I got to climb to 34,000 meters. But it was not very interesting  :P

Well, is it possible? Just increase the visibility distance, I guess the color is fine...

It's been bugging me for a long time, you don't see a horizon (even at 5,000m it is apparent), instead you see a big circle of ground that fades into light blue.
