Thanks guys! Always good to see love out there for the aircraft type you're working on. Still sooo much to learn, especially in terms of mapping and importing....I have done some simple mapping and skinning exercises but nothing as complex as a multi-engine aircraft, or using materials as per the il2 Bible.

PS. It probably also didn't help that I got somewhat distracted building a Ki-15

Built? Or in the process of ...? Cause, a Ki-15 is another of those lovely looking 1930's planes ... would be great to see

At the risk of hi-jacking my own thread, here are a few pics of some of the other bits and bobs I have worked on in the last year (Mods please feel free to move or delete this if this is in the wrong place)

I love the Ki-15! Its such an elegant and beautiful bird. As usual for me, this D0_00 model has wayyy too many ploys (about 6400), although with some work I reckon I could get it down to maybe 5000....maybe...

The shots show the 'Babs' with her distinctive landing flap deployed.

Here's the A4N I mentioned, but its very unfinished. I struggled to build up much of a research folder with accurate plans and references on this little beauty of a bi-plane. I suspect animating the landing gear struts would be pretty complex for me as well - I definitely need more source material for this one. Like you agracier, I love the pre-war/Sino-Japanese War era stuff though, particularly bi-planes. The model is about 5000 polys and is lacking quite a few parts and details.

And finally, here's a few Chinese junks and sampans based on some of those that were plying the Yangtze River in 1937. These were some of my first models. Again, experienced il2 modders will be shaking their heads in horror at the stupidly high poly count for little boats...but hey  :-[ :D

My dream is to bring a bit more of the Sino Japanese air war to il2, to compliment the great stuff we already have - and for me one of the iconic match ups is the Type 11 Nell versus the Hawk III, along with the Hawk versus the Ki-10. If I get further down the road with the Nell variants (if life allows) I'd like to look into bringing some other a/c to life starting with the Ki-15 Babs. Incidentally, its great to see the Ki-51 being realised in fantastic form by Da_Don (another important player in China and elsewhere)

Ok, back to work on the Nell! A few more parts to tweak then mapping....

P.S I dunno what's going on with Photobucket by the way - these jpg are razor sharp in Gimp but every time I uploaded them to Photobucket they went a bit fuzzy. The old ones of the Nell at the start are fine....and I used the same process and account...doh

Hope the dream works out ... yes, more of the Sino-Japanese war would be great ... we got the SCW up to speed in Il-2 in the past few years, now a concerted effort on the Sino-Japanese war would be great ...

The Ki-15 model looks wonderfully elegant and beautiful. I don't know what all the polygon stuff means, but whatever it takes, I hope you make it ...

Great stuff ...

Nice models.
Like you say, the poly count maybe a little high, but a great start towards developing a slimmed down version.

That is an excellent idea and would really be most welcome! Plus that your "Babs" looks gorgeous. Thanks to DreamK we have some of the aircraft used at this time in China, so what we really need is what you are aiming for: early-war Japanese aircraft.

Keep it up!

And a question:
Are you going to release all of them separatly or in a pack?
