Hi all! :)

Just a quick note to say that this project is not dead - real life has been pretty darn loony (in a truly amazing way about 90% of the time ;D) this last year, and when I returned to the model with a view to poly reduction I just decided to start again utilising the experience I'd gained making this and other models, in a bid to do a much lower poly model. I'm now about 95% finished with a NEW D0_00 model of the L3Y-1 transport which will be the base for the Type 11 and Type 23 bomber models. Hopefully within the next week or two I will be able to post some pics of it with a basic void or skin on it.

The new model is loads more efficient in poly terms and clocks in at around 6800 polys.

Thanks for all the support I received for this project, and my apologies for taking so long to return to it and post here. Thanks to just champi for your top drawer modelling advice - mate, I have so much respect for your work and seeing your beautiful creations here were a big inspiration to me. Also thanks to Bombsaway for the link to the photos....yep, that's such a great site for the Japanese aviation modeller. Cheers dudes!

PS. It probably also didn't help that I got somewhat distracted building a Ki-15 and A4N...... :-\  ;)

A "Nell" - the very first Japanese bomber plastic kit that I ever built!

Wow - I might even get to fly it in IL2 - fantastic...

Thank You

Built? Or in the process of ...? Cause, a Ki-15 is another of those lovely looking 1930's planes ... would be great to see

Ted, there are certainly no apologies needed: we all have real lives, and this is just a hobby!  :)

Anyway it's GREAT to see that you are still at it! As I see it the "Nell" is one of the few remaining BIG gaps left in IL-2 (and I am talking operational aircraft here, that played a big role in history).

Keep it up - and good luck!  :)

Hi TedStryker, glad to see you around again. It's funny what you said because I must confess that I like to look at wip pictures a lot, (often more than finished works) because you can learn a lot from it, and have revisited those of your G3M from time to time because (with all respect to others) is the kind of work I enjoy to look at with attention.

Ki-15, A4N?  :( such a pity you have so bad taste, no one is perfect I guess...   ;D

Jokes aside, I'll be  glad to see any of your newer creations, best of luck with it, I'm sure you'll have a good time doing them.

@walter, I think he refers to the radial-engined biplane figther serving with the Imperial Japanese Navy, before WW2, the Nakajima A4N...

Aha ... if so, so much the better. Those pre-war planes are precious, just lovely looking, frail and sputtering little contraptions ... simply gorgeous to behold and fly.
