New German Tank for WW1- Request is Made
« on: July 02, 2012, 05:28:13 PM »

This REQUEST has already been made by Asheshouse  8)

THANK YOU!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recently I was doing some flying around in the DBW-1916 version of the game, and
I am flying my cool airplane with a load of bombs, but I never see a German tank to
destroy.  :(
 I was thinking, if there is not going to be a German "A7V" tank-mod for a little while, why not
paint a new skin for the current Male/Female Allied tanks and use those as German machines.
Afterall, many of them were used by the German forces. So we could have the same tank, but
with some diferent skins to be allied and Axis machines.
Is there a way that someone could grab these tanks from the DBW-1916 package and change their
entry Confi.ini (or java, or whatever) for them to be a German tank?
That way we could have Allied tanks and German tanks too. If I knew how to work that out I would
have done it already, but I am not an expert at this Modding java and computer stuff  :-[
ALL it needs is a new paint-job on the skin and we have a German tank  ;D  I will paint the skins if
you want.
Perhaps something like in this photo...
http://westmodelsandfigures.blogspot.pt/2011/07/emhar-wwi-german-captured-female-tank.html
If this is possible to do,
the DBW-1916 will be almost perfect for the next update that VPmedia will create.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

By the way, the German A7V tank has already been created by Asheshouse.
It is now waiting final stages of important data so it can be put into the DBW-1916 game  ;)

Beutepanzer! Yes, please!
Germans gathered dozens of them.

Yes -- The Mark IV is the best one to use. Many were captured and repaired in 1916.
There were actually more captured Mark IV's used by the Germans than A7V's
If you do it I will make a new slot for it.

a good idea - basically, a duplicate slot, just assigning it to 'blue' side, and a new skin, and hey presto! a german tank for us to try and bomb! :D

Alright then, I will research some more into what camouflage schemes these German monsters had and
will post for you some new skins,  so you guys can choose which you like best to put into the DBW-1916 game.
At least we can have a nice target to shoot at or bomb on our missions/campaigns.

This is a preliminary mock up of a skin for the Beutepanzer based on the MarkIV skin, which I did a while ago but never completed. The image was from a "female" tank profile, with mg's, whereas the model in the game is "male", with cannon. I must get around to completing the MarkIV female sometime.

Here is the psd layered template for the above: https://www.mediafire.com/?pmp7p3ngz9nrotm

It needs a bit of work before its ready.
Only the side of the hull has the correct camo.
This needs to be replicated onto the other hull surfaces. Could you progress that?

I will sort out the files to create a WWIMKIVBeutePanzer.
It will just need the final skin to complete it.

I will work on it as quickly as I can Asheshouse.

I will send you some skins by tomorrow afternoon to test on your game  :)

Thank you Murdoc for that skin. Very nice art!  8)

Slot for the moving tanks is done.
I will zip up the model and send it to you later.

I'm not sure if the Germans used the unditching beam. Not seen any photos showing that on a Beutepanzer yet.

Maybe better like this.

Now if only a java expert could do some code to make multiple guns work on a tank like they do on ships?

Without the wood beam removed it looks great too, but either way, this WW1 "Beutepanzer"
has been seen using it too.
I have been doing some research for awhile looking at Beautepanzers and checking out their
camouflage schemes to make it a more historical looking skin.

Check out some great photos I have found here...

It is also interesting to know, that many of these tanks were seen/captured and destroyed in battle
sometime in 1940-1941.
The Russians (or Estonians?) used it in battle against the German invasion of their countries.
I guess they just got their WW1 tanks out of the museum and rushed them into battle against
the Germans.

They must have been without tanks at that moment.
" ... In Estonia, the three tanks Mk V (the names "Paalik", "Uku" and "Wahtula"), were in the army until 1939. When Russian came to Estonia, the tanks were sent to the warehouse. During the defense of Tallin in 1941, Russians reintroduced them into battle - all were taken by the Wehrmacht."
There are some rare photos of them.
Very interesting photos.
