Did you get rid of your DBW or did you keep it and just patch it with DBW still in your il2 folder

i don't touch mods, only disable them with GME and select stock game on selector

then i've reinstalled all official patches in this way: 4.101----->4.07--->4.08---->4.09----->4.10------>4.101

Whatever causes the problem is in yor #DBW folder (mod conflict) and all you had to do is disable that mod by adding - in front of its name (I told you how to locate, it must have files for I-16type5 ).

I have this same problem, with all the same aircraft you listed too, and also the C-47 and AC-47 dont show up, but they show up in UP3. I have the cowling/prop mod and better wheels mod. I have a

few other mods but those are the only like "cosmetic" mods. I'll remove them and see what happens.

ok did some fiddling, the problem was the wheel mod. If I ran the wheel mod the planes that Vega listed were no flyable. But if I had the prop and cowling mod it ran fine.

so the wheel mod has conflicts with some planes?

  Any 3d conflict can do that, so i put all 3d improvement in a single folder, this way help to find, but the problem is when you install the 3d update over the plane folder and the old is deleted, you need install the plane again, if is a stock plane you just need delete all 3d updates in plane folder and cockpit folder, yes cockpit folder you have a similar problem if a conflict or incompatible happen. (Sorry my ugly english)
