No offence, however.

Hahaha. Sorry. We'll see if crazy flak does anything cool with this.

About the I-15, not only wasn't affected by that problem of ignition, but they often came back to base very seriously damaged without engine failure. After SCW, the captured I-15 and I-15bis were used until the 50s with no problem.
The issue with landing is a very different thing. I don't think FM is wrong for I-15 (I don't know about I-153). Pilots often complained about the tricky to land that this plane was. They often complained about the lack of visibility downwards and to the front due to upper gull wing.
Ironically, this gull wing had been implemented as a great innovation to improve visibility during dogfights.
As a result of the bad visibility or the inexperience of many pilots, a lot of chatos crash landed, breaking undercarriage, spinning, nose landing, etc.
That's why they decided to return to the straight upper wing in I-15bis, but then pilots starting complaning again, saying that I-15 was better, that's why they came back with the gull wing again in Tchaika. Conclusion: pilots complained about everything.  ;)

I've always read the I-15 was the preferred aircraft of Russian fighter pilots who flew the I-16s/I-15s because of it's relatively easy handling. Most soviet pilots thought it was a dream to fly or some such communist malarky.

So do I. After easily landing in I-16, I was therefore surprised not to govern I-15. With I-15bis, the situation is a bit better, see above ntrk.

I think the low speed handling of the tchaika needs modified most. The stall speed in air is a lot higher than the stall speed with ground effects it would seem. Desensitizing the control profile for small movements would probably help immensely too.

Thank you for this idea. So it would be perhaps good to make special joystick profile for tchaika, more "S-shaped" than for other planes I use. At least till someone will improve its FM.
