As the title suggests, I've created a DCG B17 single-player campaign and start in the lead bomber on the airfield.  I take off and circle with my 4-element section while the rest of the squadron takes off(12 bombers in total including my 4).
They do not form up behind me however and basically circle the field and then start out on the waypoints.  I have followed and then caught up with them and commanded them to "Rejoin" and/or "Tighten formation".  Despite getting verbal acknowledgements from the AI they don't fall into formation on me they just keep going.

Any suggestions??

Hi,
The 4.09m version of the "GTOrder" mod by Checkyersix had this included!
But I think the option to lead the bombers is no longer contained in the 4.10m version of this mod!

Crap!!!  I guess the only option is to remain "tail-end charlie" and follow the AI which isn't terrible but trying to maintain formation with the AI is a challenge as they are constantly throttling up and throttling back while climbing (and even levelled off).  It's not impossible but quite frustrating and a bit tiring after a while.
