Looks gorgeous Mark, up to your usual high standards me thinks, looking forward to it. 8)

Not sure about the modern airfield though, the jet jockeys will love it, me I prefer something that reflects the islands past. That way it is better for varied missions and campaigns.

Maybe two versions eh. ;)

All the best, Pete.;D

I always liked this map. To those for whom it will not load...

When I downloaded it last, some of the textures are missing or have bad paths in the DBW 1.7.1. I did a quick and dirty fix by replacing textures with some from the Mixx polar map (which looks similar to what I see for the Falklands in Google Earth). That approach can get you working while we wait for Bomb's update.

Vonofterdingen: The choice with Mixx Zapolar'e tex is a very good one IMHO!

A small observation.  Trees, you could count the trees on the islands on one hand, and most of them were stunted afterthoughts planted in peoples gardens, such as they had. A few in Stanley, nowhere else.

Don't recollect ever seeing a tree in "the camp" as the locals call the barren countryside. I'm sure there are a few, but few and far between.

PPS:

I found some kickassly fitting textures which would complement your work on the Falklands in agracier's Lapland autumn tex.
Hope you do not mind my suggestions, will shut up.
I think what is characteristical for the islands (Malvinas) is a grassy, "bumped" brownish to green touch and you will find a good base for that in cyberolas Crimea as well as agracier's Lapland Autumn maps. See also the links above and your own shots, I think one of them shows what I mean.
Hint..."jet Thunder"..cough..
NOW I'll sht the fuck up. :D   ;D
As I said, I can help with texture allocations in FMB and a few airbases, only no rocket science atm since my life currently starts to get real hefty/er. :D

I'll try any texture you can spare Tom. That goes for anyone who would like to help with this map. If anyone has any textures or suggestion of texture, I'm happy to try them. I just want the map to look as nice as possible for the members here to enjoy.

Thanks Mark, I will upload a set this evening or tomorrow once I made a clever selection and you can judge yourself as how they would fit or not.
Somehow you inspired me to get on with my next idea (less big and demanding) and start next Thursday with a bit more time at my hands.

Cheers

Speaking about jet Thunder, eh?  :D  ;)

Good reference for you also, Bombs! Albeit IMHO dated gfx there..

Are you also going to add the hundred thousands sheep on The Falklands/Las Malvinas?  ::)
