Hi, Vasya !!

I understand that you were a member of HAWK-III (68) 3D rework team.

Thank you always for your hard work and information.

No, I hardly know how to fix 3D models at all.
And I did not take part in the creation of this mod.
Sometimes I make changes to classes and fm to improve the characteristics of virtual aircraft models.
My opinion may be wrong, since I am not a professional modder.

Ah~ so that meant you're using the HAWK-III mod alone that you personally modded to make it easier to takeoff and land.
I'll ask you to share it when I need it someday.
Thank you.

I post some “corrections” on Aviaskins.
I can’t offer a direct link, in order to avoid comments/reprimands from eminent modders of this forum.

Okay, I got it.

That place is a cryptographic world for me, but I have a sence of it.

So I will visit the place from time to time and search properly for finding what I want.

Thank you.

Great.  Now another problem.

I installed a bunch of skins for the Hawk III, and while the skins show up in the drop down in QMB, they do not appear on the aircraft when I select them.

This is the case regardless of the author of the skins.  That at least tells me that the problem is with the aircraft, not the skins.

Here's the weirder part.  In FMB, trying to use a skin (Archie made most of them, BTW), the Hawk III turns pink.  I recently replaced the il2_corep.dll and il2_corep4.dll, since the Hawk III appeared pink in both QMB and FMB.  Replacing those made it show up wearing the default skin, when it had been pink before.  So I am assuming that the problem is related to this.

Okay, dumb question time.  Any thoughts about what to do about this?

You know the old saying.  One door closes, another gets slammed in your face...or something.  I don't know.

Just for info, I had similar problems with some "HD" skins in Ultrapack.

if the tgb file in the default skin folder is HD (with size bigger than 4Mb) only custom HD skins can be visualized and used in game no matter how many files you will have in the HawkIII skin folder.

So the best thing is to have the default skin at the standard resolution 1024x1024 and then if you have the hd graphic dll and the HD texture mod installed you can visualize and use both type of skins.

My poor opinion...
   * It may not be this issue, so I express it as a poor opinion in advance... ::(

The plane of the default skin looks normal...so the plane doesn't seem to be a problem. Then it's a problem with the skin.

It seems like 2 versions of HAWK-III are being mixed right now.

  - 101tfs ver : https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,28268.msg297735.html#msg297735
  - Western0221 ver : https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,28268.msg455247.html#msg455247

These two skins are completely different.
  - 101tfs ver - using Stanislao's skin (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,68879.msg750712.html#msg750712)
  - Western0221 ver - using archie1971's skin (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,28441.msg300469.html#msg300469) ...And if you look it up, there will be more.

And the plane of 101tfs only applies 2048 skin because the summer skin is 16mb.

I want you to check these things out.

Thank you.

Okay, I checked the default skin in the mod itself (inside "plane" folder within the "3do" folder, that is to say).  The tgb is 16mb, just like Gunny 0134 said.  Now, as Frankiek was saying, I need to find some way to make the default skin a 1024x1024.

This is going to take some doing.  Thanx for the counsel.  I have a road ahead of me.

Well, you're using a version of 101tfs.

If so, rename Stanislao's 2048 Skins with the skin name required by the campaign you want to do and check how it comes out of FMB.

If there's no problem, just use it as it is.

Unless there's another way, this could be a temporary method.

This HAWK-III is a meaningful plane for me. Because it's the plane that made me meet skin master Stanislao for the first time.

Anyway, the conclusion is...

101tfs ver : the graphics are good, but there are not enough skins available.

Western0221 ver : the graphics are a little off, but there are plenty of skins to use.

The choice is up to you (I'm using a version of 101tfs).

Thank you.

Customs skins in .bmp format in Paintschemes folder should have the same resolution as default skins in the mod folder in .tgb and .tga format.

Thus, if default skin is 1024, then customs skins should be 1024 as well.

To resize skins in .tga format one could use GIMP. Just open the file, scale it down, then save as .tga. Don't forget to uncheck "RLE compression", otherwise it will make the skin unreadable by the game.

.tgb format is the same as .tga. Just rename it to .tga for editing, then rename back to .tgb after you done

Backup your files until you get the hang of it
