Okay, I followed the steps from the second post and I have a working version of UP3 and the original game. The only problem I have is that I cannot get DBW or DBW16 to work. If I click on it to start it the startup message box just flashes for one second and then comes back.

From reading a bunch of posts it seems that I do not have to add a mod through JSGME, to run DBW. Is this correct?

When I was reading and adding the UP3 files I did not see anything about it having to be ( and it did not unpack ) in it's own UP folder. So the UP files where just extracted to the mail IL-2 folder. I sthis correct?

Thanks for any help with this.

My two cents...just make a new copy somewhere else on your harddrive, patch it up to4.10.1m and doanload DBW 1.71..go from there.  ::)

I have the exactly same problem, followed all the instructions from here, installed up3, then up3rc4. Game is fine at this point.
But I just can't get DBW 1.71 superpack into work. IL-2 selector just flashes once when I try to start the game with DBW. UP3 still works.
Maybe my DBW copy is corrupted?

As I wrote before all the stuff (patches + UP3 + DBW content) you need is included in the
"Stock 4.07m to DBW 1.71 SuperPack One-Stop Download & Install" https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,21514.msg239532.html#msg239532
so you get an IL-2 1946 dvd and you downlad the pack via torrent or direct links and youre done except a few expansion packs which are also in the DBW download section. The description in the second post is pre DBW 1.6 imho. Before the superpack was released you had indeed to go tru the whole procedure, nowdays you must not.

60% crash troubleshooter here

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,22.0.html

If IL2 selector doesn't start the game, try different RAM settings (move the RAM slider in IL2 selector). Try 128 and 256mb first

if you want to edit stats, you will have to learn to use javascript and delve into classfiles. i personally have only scratched the surface, and have spent many days scratching my chin over stuff like how to change what armament a plane has.
