BA-6 or FA-1 = vehicles !
Armor and vehicles (cars) are not managed in the same way by the IL-2 code.
Static objects and stationary objects are not managed in the same way by the IL-2 code.
Armor or vehicles = They can be static objects or stationary objects.
You understand why it is difficult to make objects "destroyed."  :-X

Thank you for the clarification. I know BA-6 and FA-1 are stationary and not static. I was kind of hoping some of Walter's vehicles were stationary and not static too, in their original version. I think I haven't got the non-destroyed version for some of them such as kettenkrad or GAZ AA, in my static objetcs list. May be I just couldn't find them or they were in some download not included in DBW 1.7, that I missed.
So we are at the same starting point: It would be great if some kind modder could make some destroyed tanks and planes.

that is what you wanted.
destroyed stationary  Planes... and by the extension of the discussion, stationary destroyed ships Artillery and Tanks.
basically, an optimum would be to have a destroyed version of every fighting element.

so whats wrong with something like this?

and that yak-like and 109-like lowpoly plane, they are both meant to represent "decoys". they are not at all meant to represent "actual" planes.

Effectively, the dummies could be a good starting point, since they are static objects. The problem is that their destroyed version is reallisticaly done for a dummy made of wood and fabric.

For the plane, could pass for a 30s very destroyed monoplane with no rest of the engine, but for the tank...

May be a repaint of the non-destroyed version could do the job. I've been doing repaints of the tgas for many objects for a pack I'm preparing. If I knew were to get the original files for these dummies, I could make a repaint and see how it looks in game.

well, nothing wrong, Gustav, it's only that through the static.ini you can get only objects composed of a single and unique mesh.
If the object is composed of more meshes, it will appear in your FMB window but you'll not be allowed to apply it on a map.
If you want to try, it's an interesting (but frustrating) experience... :P
Add to the static.ini the following lines, at the end of file, before "STATIC.INI INFO NEEDS TO BE ADDED ABOVE THIS SECTION"  (it won't screw your install, promised  :)  ) - the M4A2 is a stock tank, made of different meshes: body, gun, head.

[buildings.House$M4A2]
Title           M4A2
MeshLive        3do/Tanks/M4A2/Summer/hier.him
MeshDead        3do/Tanks/M4A2/Summer/hier.him
AlignToLand     1
Body            FuelSmall      // FIXME: need special type 'Vehicle'
Panzer          0.005

then go in Il2, load a map, choose the object in the FMB window (it will be the last), put it in the map...and...nothing.  Impossible.
At present the only way that I know to have a model as static object is to gather the main meshes of the model in a single mesh with a 3d program.

Therefore, this means that if we want a wreck, let's say of a ship, as static object, we must reduce all the damage meshes (the dmg.msh) in a single mesh.
