Implementing arresting wire/steam catapults on land-based runways?

A very simple question; is it possible to install arresting wire/catapults on land-based runways? I'm sure many of us have seen old videos of naval aircraft being tested using catapults built into the ground at special testing facilities, and the same goes for arresting wire. I'd like to know if it's possible to add such things to runways in IL-2, and if so, just how hard would it be?

For reference, here are a couple of videos that I've seen within the last few days (although I doubt these are actually needed):
