Started as this project :

Cyclades Islands - Aegean Sea



Hi everyone ! I'd like to present you a Work In Progress of mine concerning
Cyclades Islands in Greece. I've just started covering the map with textures
(from Krete & Dodecanese maps. Credits & Thanks to Agracier & Vgk !).
This project started as the hole Aegean sea but the map_c tools just
couldn't open such a big map (although I've seen bigger maps in 1946...).
Can anyone please point me about the "know how" of such big maps ?

Most welcome! With all financial hardship facing us Greeks, at least, I shall be able to enjoy "virtual holidays" next summer! Many thanks for your work,  8)

Thank you for your kind words ! Since it's my first mapmaking attempt, lot of experimentation.
I currently make my texture library for the map & doing some progress on it also... It will take
a while...
Said that, a foto of rocky sores... :

Thank you for the help Bombsaway ! It's encouraging.
But after overgone the problems with big maps I've faced just today & after gaining
map making experience with Cyclades_isls map, my project turns to :

AEGEAN SEA map (1:1)



I've got already test flown this map with an average speed of 800 Km/h for a half an hour
flight from Athens - Attiki to Crete flying over Cyclades islands & video of this flight can be

Tommorow I'll test if I can expand more this map to west including the whole Greece (u see, I come
from there...) & after final shape of my project I'll start texturing it...

About Cyclades maps, if anyone is interested it's available for him/her for further modyfication & completion or
maybe I could continue it to some "beta" & release it...

I am looking forward to fly in Il2 over that area, too.
Have all the time you need to finish the map,
but be aware, many virpils are waiting for it.   ;)

Wow nice coastal area map   :D ;)

Lots of coast detailing.

Have you found any oceanic blue triangle near the coast and where a small island was supposed to be but microdem didn't quite comprehend and made it a raised trianglar blue area?


The joys   ;) :D of map making.

Looks great with Crete in there too.  :D

My favorite maps are maps with Islands
Definitely looks like an Island hopping paradise   :)
