night afterburner

That's one of the reasons why I always wanted to see jets in IL-2 - 12 years after release it still allows for 100% better exhaust effects than DCS

Bless you from the one of the few Marine pilots from the 60s who could not get carrier qualified.

Hey, SP, I'm not even gonna ask how you got around that, as I asked another guy I heard that frm a few decades ago, and he just grinned. Must be a trade secret.

I don't see how anybody gets qualified on a canted angled deck; its hard enough in a simulator to do on a straight deck in broad daylight in a prop plane.

Going Home

Left engine damaged after a bombing pass over heavily defended position. Notice that exhaust effects and variable nozzle doors are operate independently for each engine.

The NOZZLES operate in this? Holy Hornets Batman, I've never even considered that before. Excuse me while I faint dead away. ('thud' as hits floor).  :o

If I flew in an F 18 in real life, I would pass out.

If I got to fly the F-18 in Il-2, I would still pass out.  :)
