External you do 1, for internal you'll have to do like 20 different textures ;D. We already have a volunteer but if any one want to do it, feel free to contact me. The faster it get done, the faster this jet will get released. Mean while I'm still working on the code work for Head Down, Multi-functions display :P

I have to admit Storebror also did a very decent job on the FM.  :o :)

Because I am wearing an SAS tag and we tested this plane's WIP and SAS~Storebror reworked the FM after my modder mates and my constructive criticism. ;)

Ah the MFD. I remember that from Jane's F/A-18, and the F/A-18 Korea sims. Looking forward to it. Hope my setup can handle it :)

Guys, I'm terribly sorry to disappoint you that this project is now .... cancel....

Kidding

The real bad news is: due to limitation of the game engine, which only enable 255 3D meshes per .him (3D) the number of system that can be "animated" in the cockpit will be very limited. Because these animation is totally possible but will require a huge number of moving parts i.e. 3D mesh. Imaging each of those digits is a mesh, you can estimate how many we'll need to fully animate all the system and panel. this limitation is solid until I can find a way to work around the problem.

So here are 2 options available:

1/Keep the number of system coded limited to fit with the game engine.
2/Create 2 cockpits: one with all the navigation and normal flight systems; one with all the combat systems. (still the same pilot pit) This is necessary to get most of the system we needed in game.

The idea of having 2 cockpits might ruined the feeling of the aircrafts, but on the other hand player will get the best experience out of the mod. So I want your opinions on this one. What do you think?

Here's some update on the progress  ;)

I like Idea number one for the reason that I have a not so great running computer and I would love to fly this beautiful bird someday.

I remember F/A-18 Korea having a 'cockpit view' and a 'Instrument view.' Didn't ruin the experience for me. Just had to hold the stick steady while I was making my selections ;)

could you possibly have two cockpits that you could switch between in flight kind of like a gunners seat?

the way for the signs - don't have every letter/sign as separate mesh, but have mesh with few faces where you code where it is mapped - is it possible?

Or like the bombardier's position: Still able to fly the plane.
