I know that MSFS X has an F/A-18 but I'm not sure how realistic the FM is. Anyone have any info on that? Just curious.

For F/A-18s, I'd go with 7.5 G max or whatever the NATOPs state.
For positive.

No offence, but I read that the +7,5 is the maximum G amount for "Super Hornet" wchich is less manuvreable and have smaller power to weight ratio and also greater weight than its predecessors. I'm not proffesional fighter driver, I just wrote what i found.  ;)

F-18 Hornet have an automatic G-limiter. Switzerland it is 9G and the other 7.5G. May also be that the Navy should also 9G limit but I do not know / believe. They do not have to dodge the mountains.
Of course Hornet able to cross the limit momentarily but then really talk about 0.1-0.8 seconds. Even less...

If  you are planing take great screenshot with new mods, don't plan anything before you have full installed working mod. Otherwise installation is going to fail badly. *true story

There's a WIP sim called "7G"..about F/A-18C.   ;)
IIRC only the Swiss Hornets have that feature..and I totally forgot about that TBH. :)

Concerning The F/A-18 "G"s, here is an interesting video:

Does anyone know of the Best Glide Speed for F-18? Also Drag Polar, max lift/drag ratio. It's important for some code work.

Thanks,

S3

Mate, you seriously ask about if realistic FMs are wished and do not consider the NATOPS FMs? These are freely available by now and AFAIK I posted all F/A-18 NATOPs once (long ago) at another forum thanks to a BMS modder who send them to me.
No offense, full respect for your code and artwork. ;)

Freely available? I have NATOP Flight manual but not Flight Performance manual (2 manuals, the flight performance manual is available for F-18E/F but not ABCD) which have these value. By any chance if you have it, can you send it to me.

S3, maybe a misinformation here. I once asked at BMS for legal free available NATOPs for the F/A-18C since I wanted to post them to devs for another sim (the Hornet there sucks! 14Gs positive lol..and negative..  ;) ).
If I can refind them, I will send the links, maybe things which you already have.
 ;)

Well, in this Hornet you can reach 11G, momentary, and then realized that you're "flying without wings"  :D. The G limiter is good.

I should code the Hornet to be able to reach 11G+ for a fraction of a second then reset elevators + flaps control to limit the aircraft maximum turning at 9G.

These discussion are really great as it enable players make input into the mods and once it release, everyone happy.

Cheers,

S3

i'll leave the statistical/performance arguments to those who are better qualified, and  just quietly carry on painting the buttons and switches with my special photoshop paint mix, lol.
one button at a time... :D

what will be interesting, and quite difficult to create, is the landing gear animation/behavior.
and the "set chocks at catapult" for the diabolo.
having mirrors all around the canopy frame.
Possible to implement fuel dump?

How about using unneeded stuff like "bomb bay doors"
to open some access panels / put chocks and remove before flight Tags
how about the ladder deploying at "open canopy"

it is hard to describe... the urge to sit in one and get shot of fthe deck, then battle Ki-84s and Schwalbe's and fly back for a proper landing.
and all that in my favorite " complex but not too much " combat flight sim.

rrrRRRRRR.
tickles up and down the spine.
