If I flew in an F 18 in real life, I would pass out.

I am fortunate to say I have flown in an F/A-18 in real life. I will ever forget it

As for the post with one landing with half a wing, I have seen this happen in real life. In 1990 we had a mid air collision between two 75SQN RAAF Hornets. One crashed with the sad loss of our beloved CO, the other RTB'd. It was missing the left wing from the wingfold out, the inboard left leading edge slat was wrapped around the top of what was left of the wing, the left stab was missing, only the pivot point was there, the left engine had a hole in the VEN from the sidewinder of the other aircraft, there was also a large part of the left tail missing and the left rudder missing. The aircraft lost all of the primary hydraulics and returned on aux hyd but had to use emergency hyd to lower the landing gear and hook. I watched the pilot do the most perfect approach and landing I had ever seen, but the flight controls were acting insane to keep the aircraft controllable. There is no doubt that with out computer controlled flight controls the aircraft would have been unflyable.
