Dimlee, I love your enthusiasm about this map! I'm sure there are lots of other fans out there too.
vonofterdingen, yep, I love that little mod for making invisible plates visible. Long ago when making the Older LowerBurma I was adding those plates blindfolded and just guessing as best I could at where to put them. Once I got that mod, I was able to see the "mess" had made and cleaned it up a bit. Well, it was that bad. but the point is that that mod is incredible.
Uzin, adding the right textures where needed can be tricky. It can be simple sometimes...when I retextured my Caucasus map with Cyberolas txts...what I did was find one of his that was similar looking to one of mine and just replace it. Example: certain types of grain fields or pastures - just look for something similar.
vpmedia also has some good textures, especially of city textures (like Berlin).
What I notice in some maps, including mine, is that small towns and villages are omitted. This makes the land look empty and barren. IRL there are villages every few kilometers.
For my Moravia/Ostrava map, I got a real life map and overlayed it on top of the mapped area. Then I selected and colored the city/village areas (each village has a unique shape as in real life) and added that to Map_T.
You don't have to populate each village but I did use Autopop for Moravia since it is a smallish map.
I did the same for Forested areas - I just put a real map layer of forests on top of map_t and voila! Really easy and forests are true to real life.
Here is the mapsite I used...
https://en.mapy.cz/s/2smR7click on the button for "change maps" to see forest areas.
The most difficult thing is to line everything up exactly right, or as best possible, but I really enjoyed making that map using that method.
