DBW - 1916 - Bloody April - Campaign & Mission Pack
« on: October 29, 2012, 03:17:41 AM »

Bloody April - Campaign & Mission Pack - 14 Missions
April 1917 - Known as Bloody April by the Royal Flying Corps (RFC), who suffered about three times the losses of the Imperial German Army Air Service (Luftstreitkräfte) over the same period. The Allies launched a joint ground offensive, with the British attacking near Arras in Artois, northern France, while the French Nivelle offensive began on the Aisne. Allied air forces were called on to provide support, predominantly in reconnaissance and artillery spotting.

I reworked "1917_Bloody_April " for the latest DBW-1916, no frankenplanes:

also requires the RE.8 by Gio from the WIP section.

Cheers mac1, I have been compiling our last Monty-Packs but always enjoy flying Il2 more than messing with it.  When I tried Vpmedia's addon pack I was very impressed and spent much of the weekend playing with DBW-1916.  Those guys have done a fantastic job with it.  ;D

I'm enjoying this change of pace Mike and will do more of these 10 or so campaign/mission sets, covering a number of areas and events on both sides. I have 10 campaign/mission sets in the works, a little over 100 missions.  Eindeckers next, The Fokker Scourge!

Sounds great!
As more aircraft are released for DBW1916, so too will our collective mission repertoire!

Oh yeah, I particularly love what the Aviator Mod Team did for the Albatross, Camel and Fokker DVIII.  Then there is Lisek's Eindecker, what an education that is to fly!  The One-Stop addon pack is also very good and I hope the same team continue to develop it.  I was quite amazed by the quality of the flights and the scenery, effects etc.  You gotta ask, ROF - who needs it?!

Simon I have been flying you bloody April this morning and am complety stoked again. I am glad you jumped in the 1916 arena. Finished the DAF and the AVG. I haven't started the Ace of Spades yet :P I have been into the 1916 for a while now. Ya know I'm a Red Baron old timer. Just about froze my fingers off in that first mission. Thanks my friend looking forward to some more of you Great War Campaigns. Cheers  Tom

Great shots Tom!  I didn't previously appreciate, until I began researching in more depth, that April 1917 began with a very cold spell.  It is often noted as an extreme weather event and snowdrifts hampered the first Allied attacks at Arras, delaying the advance between April 4th and 9th.

It does warm up, and the mission set is equally spaced between the winter and summer maps of the Somme, but then you have the rain... ;D

CREDITS UPDATE
A personal request to players who downloaded before November 1st - Please re-download the set so that you have the proper credits in the INFO file too.  As a small enticement I have further enhanced the scenery effects in some missions.  They are tiny downloads after all!  ;)
