I just had a conversation with a friend of mine who is a Vietnamese emigrant if he would be interested in contributing his voice to this endeavor.  This is his exact quote was, "I would have to imitate a northerner accent.  We southerners don't like the northerners and we hate their accent even more".   Sorry, it was a resounding, NO!  All of the other Vietnamese people that I know are women.

Well, since alot of people that play this game are from diferent countries and not
from Vietnam, we do not know the way they talk in the Northern Part of Vietnam, I don´t
care about the accent or style of speaking, we would only like to hear a person say certain
aviation terms/Sayings in Vietnamese, if they want to curse or say bad words, it is up to them, it is
not necessary. I
would rather hear a REAL person from Vietnam speaking in their language
than to have for example, ME talking and imitating someone from Vietnam.
I probably will sound like one of those old 1970s Kung-Fu movies, where Western-people were imitating very badly and in a funny way the way people talk in Asia.
Some of those movies were very funny, but I don´t want that to be in our IL-2 game. I would like
to hear a real serious voice,
otherwise, if its for fun, I make it myself and start imitating Jackie-Chan and Thanh Viet.
(a vietnamese comedy actor)  ;D

I would not mind if it was a girl speaking. Many women are pilots also and I think
a womans voice is also sexy for flying jet fighters.
Unless... she screams in a loud voice while I am flying my jet airplane, " Mau...Mau...Mau !!" ???
 ;D

I will totally agree with you Max.  I will reapproach Vinh, and see if he would reconsider lending his voice to this project.  If not, then I will ask my lady friends.  I think this could be a fun project.

You see that last post?  ;)
That is EXACTLY what also needs to be done to the IL-2. Many great ideas start off like
this with good friends trying to make something better for this game and for us to play
it even better. But no person can do it alone, we must do it together as friends.
At the present moment I think you guys could get together on this project and do
a great sound-mod for the IL-2. I think you should. If you don´t know how to mod new
airplanes or paint skins, there is alot of things that still need to be done for IL-2.
Sound mods are much needed for WW1 and Korean and Vietnam War.
At the moment I am spending all my time available doing new skin-templates and new
skins for the new airplanes and the other airplanes that are still being created and tested,
so I cannot take another project into my hands. Its just alot of work for one person.
But you guys can get together and create this if you have the time.

:-[  I also have a friend that is South Korean.  Here again, we might need two voice packs, North Korean and South Korean, because they have evolved into different languages and not just different accents.  Getting a North Korean speaker will be a tougher assignment, but if we can get only one, I can live with that.  I will make another request and see if I can get Chong to contribute his voice to this also.  Can somebody direct me to where the dialogs we need for this project?

In the {game folder}/samples/Speech/{country folder} there are  9 folders named Actorx; where x is a number from 1 to 9.  In the Actor1 folder there are 237 separate dialogs.  This is a bigger project than it first appeared.  Bigger, not harder, and totally worthy!  In order to do this properly, it appears that I will need 9 Vietnamese and 9 Korean voices.   I do not have that many friends that speak these two languages.  :(  Anybody else out there with friends who speak one of these languages who want to join this project?  I'm currently working on the dialogs and the emotional intonations for each dialog part.

No problem for me :). We have like 80+ Millions Vietnamese here  :D. If you can send me the transcript in English, I'll find the appropriate people and do the recording for you.

S323,  Will send you an Excel spreadsheet by next weekend....It appears that there are two sets of dialogs, Actor1 and Actor{other}, but you will probably need 9 voices.  Thanks.

You could also have one guy speak in a different tone two times to half thr number of people needed if you don't have enough!

You read my mind. Actually there can be 2-3 samples from 1 speaker with correct mixing, so the total minimum is around 3 Vietnamese and 3 Korean.

About N and S Korean accents, I think that back in 1950, when the Korea got separated into Northern Southern part, these weren't so much different.

and just having korean and vietnamese voices is better than russian, although i think there should be a new country in the country chooser for russians fighting for korea.
