performance wise, the F2G was not better than the F4U-4 and that was the main reason why it did not go into full scale production..of course the end of the war in the PTO, the appearance of the F8F and the new jets and dwindling budgets also contributed to the demise of the F2G;
but first and foremost, it did not offer any advantage over the -4 model, which was already established in the fleet, had a proven engine plus supply chain and could be mass produced in no time...
so check the F2G against a -4 model to see if it is really too slow
it was not the über-fighter one might believe
