I can bring it up to 700KM per hour. Be careful with it the as it gets unmaneuverable.

Hi to you all.

I want to thank above all Gerd's for re-creating virtually for us these wonder planes, both two of the best piston fighter planes ever made. I am thrilled by 'flying' the F2G in the IL-2. It's like a ...lifelong dream! I was 14 when I first read about the F2G and I remember myself trying to imagine its pilot trying to master it ...

Since I am attempting a comeback to IL-2 and downloaded this fantastic mod, which is still being a WIP, I thought about making my contributions as a BETA tester. I hope my remarks will help Gerd in his work.
So, what is left to be done?

For the F8F

 - apart from the cockpit, I thing the FM needs more refining. The way it is, just a sudden pull up after 350 mph is enough to break off a wing. Still, I think that generally is close to true one. The F8F feels a bit like a ...F4F with a double wasp! Good work.

For the F2G

- the engine cowling is moving up and down when I am trying to climb or dive
- the pilot is ..buried inside the fuselage, so wrong position of the pilot
- the sound of the engine, ok I never experienced live a wasp major but it doesn't seem to me accurate
- the FM of the plane, it seems wrong to me, maybe I am mistaken of course. Still the wings break just like the F8F
- the default skin needs different mapping so the stock insignia won't show
- the cockpit of course...

EDIT: The DM shows the amount of work that has been done, it seems like ..everything inside the plane has been modelled, that's a huge amount of work. Many thanks

F2G's FM is not modified yet.(This MOD version of purpose is UV check for skinner)
Please FM check when FM is modified

I can't understanding it.
"The way it is, just a sudden pull up after 350 mph is enough to break off a wing."
Does It mean safety wingtip?
F8F-2 does not have safety wingtip.

Would not show me a movie or screenshot if possible?

Yes, I 'll upload screenshots soon, possibly mid-week, not now because I have to work on the pilots a bit.

What installation do you have? I am using DBW 1.171. This is maybe the cause of the problem.

I've got the Rare Bear mod skins up in the old Rare Bear skins link:

Thanks Gerd!  If you can, please post the UV map for the F2G - I can try to make them look a little better

wow guys, the rare bear and f2g are incredible! mexichiwa, thanks for the dedication but i really don't deserve any credit :) . your skins are fantastic, good job man.

gerd, fantastic job modeling the super corsair and "da bear", may i offer a little feedback though? at a distance the long wings reappear, up close it's beautiful though. also, rarebear has no flaps, they are completely sealed in an effort to save weight. lastly, she seems a bit slow, during a test last year she was recorded at a speed of over 560 mph (about 910 kmh) at a density altitude of around 8000 feet (2400 meters). the f2g is perfect how it is!

i hope this doesn't seem like i'm looking a gift horse in the mouth, just being an annoyingly observant aircraft mechanic... if you need any more information on the bear or any other racer i'll be glad to help.

btw; i love the engine detail in the wheel wells, fantastic stuff

RareBear UV map is compatible to F8F-2 UV map.
