"I remember May 10 very clearly. As so often on the eve of a great upheaval, the preceding days passed in an strange atmosphere of tranquillity. On May 9 I spent the morning sunbathing (and got as sunbumed as I have ever been before), went on patrol for roughly one hour at lunchtime and then spent the rest of the day playing Monopoly. Then came a perfect summer evening.
Although it had been long expected and talked about, the big German attack the following day still came as a shock. We actually received an order on the evening on the 9th putting us all on readiness. But there was nothing unusual in that. People, including myself, had become a little sceptical. But there was a rude awakening waiting for us..."
"Hurricanes over France" is a 13-mission semi-historical static campaign, that puts you in the role of a RAF fighter pilot in May 1940, with your Squadron slated to go over, once Herr Hitler will make his first real move. The mood is confident: of course you will lick Jerry! You are flying the Hurricane, right?
YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE CAMPAIGN HERE: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1520You begin by flying the Hurricane Mk I early, first production version, with fabric-covered wings and a wooden two-bladed, fixed-pitch propeller, but eventually switch to the modified Mk I, with a three-bladed constant speed metal propeller, metal-covered wings, armour and other improvements.
Included in this campaign is 13 skins, made by
A1_Phoenix, VP_media, Canon, Kristorf, Phas3e, eDi/iGe and
Imme. Thanks guys for your GREAT work. Special thanks to
A1_Phoenix, who agreed to make special Battle of France skins for the early Mk I Hurricane.
A1_Phoenix and
David Prosser helped me with the playtesting. Thanks guys!!!
A note on gameplay: Although it’s not a requirement I recommend that you use the “Sniper Turret Gunner Fix” (by CY6) in this campaign (well, in ALL campaigns, as the targeting capability of the AI defensive gunners in the game are almost paranormally accurate). You can downbload this little simple MOD here:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13045.0.htmlAnother thing good to know is that the Game AI automatically knows your gun convergence, and responds accordingly! A trick to increase you chances is to set your convergence to 100 and then attack them at, say, 150. It will increase your chances a bit, especially against fighters.
