Paddle steamers were popular on the rivers of SE Asia.  I'll be happy to use these and any other types in CBI missions.

Trial import done. Looks very good.
Original 5 bmp textures (>13MB) have been reduced to 2 tga (indexed colours) (1.2MB)
I have a couple of minor texture mapping errors to correct before starting on the LODs

Looks simply enchanting ... these are the kind of vessels that are more useful for missions ... the huge warships are impressive and awesome, but as good as untouchable and unsinkable ... the same vessels you can at least as a pilot go after with a chance of success ... or try and protect from attack.

This is amazingly beautiful!  :) Sort of reminds me of that movie with Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn.  :D (Of course it's neither their small steam boat nor that big German ship, but it would fit right in..)

She's still there - she's been laid up on the Medina for years now (near where I grew up on the IoW); she used to be a nightclub before a fire in the 80's. There was talk of restoring her but i'm not sure if anything's ever come of that.

I don't think any thing has been done to restore her, I walked past her in the summer and the Port side around the water line had rotted out bad and the rest of the ship looked in bad shape as well. She would need alot of money to get her back to how she was, if even that's possible because to me she looked like she might be to far gone to save.

Any way keep up the good work and look forward to seeing her in-game.

Funny ship. What is polycount? DonĀ“t forgot cut hull to 3 pieces due bigger size of ship. And add animation of paddle wheels :)

I don't know yet what guns were fitted when it was requisitioned by the royal navy. Probably just light AA and maybe a 3in on the forecastle? I need to do a bit more research.

This type of ship, paddle steamer, was very common around the coast of Britain in the 1930's. Most were requisitioned by the navy in 1939 to serve as mine sweepers and other coastal duties. Their shallow draft enabled them to operate where other larger ships could not go.

Some continued in use up until the 1960's. The PS Waverley is the best preserved example, still sea going. The paddles are hidden inside large casings so not worth trying to work out how to animate them.

Thanks.
That would be useful.

The correct gun is probably  12-pdr [3"/40 (76.2 cm)] 12cwt QF HA Marks I, II and V
- from http://www.navweaps.com

but fairly similar to your model I guess.

Her light AA outfit in 1940 would, at best, been a single 2-pdr pom-pom and a couple of Lewis guns, I think- 2-pdr abaft the funnel and Lewis guns in the bridge wings.
