That's something im trying to find, as this is purely an assumption based on the 1. Enlarging of the bombay, by ALOT. 2. The increase of 40,000 payload, while cutting the fuel capacity considerably. these "little boy" based bombs only weighed ("only") less than 10 tons, so where's the extra wieght capacity going? I know they could carry bigger bombs, but I haven't found any for the time period of the 1950-55 that are listed as fitting the B-50, (in the info I found). The ones I've found seem to be made for the B-36. The bigger ones that came along in the early to mid 50s are monsterous, and I suppose the B-50 could carry one of those if they wanted.
I am AMAZED they could rig that thing to be that powerful. ???
BUT, why carry a smaller bomb if you are only gonna carry one? I'm gonna try to research this a bit more, but today I spent most of my extra time findign skins for the Dog Sabres.....at the only source I could find, and i did find the mother load. May be a couple of days before I can research the bomb thing. I recommend the USAF museum site; they have a category of "weapons" that has photos of all of them. I learned quite a bit.
I figured the Mk6 would fill the bill either way for this sim. Be neat if the B-50 can carry two. Lots of virtual carnage and destruction. Woo hoo. What could be more fun than nuking two of the enemy airbases...........online especially.
Curious: I wonder what the Soviet nukes looked like during that period. I wish a Tu-16 would show up.
heh heh.
