actors.static management tools
« on: December 10, 2012, 04:00:46 PM »

Here's something I haven't encountered before and for which I can't seem to find a solution.

I wanted to add some popped textures to an existing map, but when I first extract the original actors, I get this error message in Zuti's actors management tool:

Actors Static Lite v0.93 by MicroWave, update by |ZUTI| - [Extraction mode]
Reading *.static file
Reading bridges
Error: For input string: "# Size of map y direction in meters"
Done

I don't understand what the tool needs, since as far as I have done before, in extracting an actors, there is no need to place a mapsize file anywhere. At least not that I know of ... this map be one of the first actors I've extracted with game bridges in it, maybe that is the problem? But if so, I still have little clue what to do.

Any clues or hints or solutions?

Create a file MapSize.txt and save in the same folder as Act.jar

In MapSize.txt

Code: [Select]
# Size of map y direction in meters
388800.0

388800.0 is the size of the map in metres. Edit to suit your map.

Ashe,

Thanks for the tip. It worked. I've been using the mapsize.txt file in the basefiles folder to recombine and create an actors, but never thought it was needed in the extracted folder. I've extracted dozens and dozens of actors without needing a mapsize.txt previously.

In any case, I suppose I should have thought of this myself, but I was getting so frustrated I guess I couldn't think straight ...

So, many thanks again ...

I believe its is only required when you have bridges present.

I was thinking that t first, but then when I thought about first removing all the bridges and then placing them all back again, I just sighed and thought - anther time ...

Game generated bridges have always been nothing but trouble when making maps.

After a expanding the borders of the West Front BoF map a couple of times complete with all the bridges I've got used to handing them.
