BTW, I have to add my praise.

These cockpits are a masterpiece.  Crystal clear full functioning gauges, the blinking turbo light, the blinking oxygen blinker etc... Very immersive.  Really adds to the P-47 experience.

That's great news Bravo, thanks. I think the mod should be compatible with all versions 4.09 and on then.  :)

Also Stratodog thanks  for the comments.   I do actually have a later version I have been working on. No drastic changes, just tweaking textures for wear and weathering, glass covers for gauges, that sort of thing.

A salute to you Poncho for your unceasing efforts!

Just reloaded after a long break out of the loop, for 4.12, and forgot how dog awfull the original pit was. I've only just found this thread now. I hope TD picks this up and carries your tireless efforts through to an official patch, so everyone can fly the P-47 as it should be.

Thank you!

Well I'll be damned, Taurus, long time no hear from. I hope you like what I've done with the place. Take a look around the pit, I'm sure you will recognize a lot of your work from the early AAA days. :)

Has been a while Poncho, 2009 to be exact.

Just had a quick flight in the P-47's to have a look. (4.12 and SAS 5.11). You've really done some amazing work on those pits from when I last saw them! Got those canopy rails sorted out real nice. All the rivets, fillets, pushrods, cables, hoses, switches, labels, panels... you've gone and put them all in there! Absolutely superb work Poncho! I do like!

I have found one amelioration way (but only one  ;)  )

the altimeter don't work over 30.000ft, it is blocked!
it will be a great addition to have a kollsman altimeter with its third indicator for each 10.000ft

I wasn’t aware of the altitude glitch. I must not have tested it that high. I’m sure I could adjust the code to fix that unless it is a universal maximum for the game. Adding a third indicator would be easy enough, and certainly more readable than the inset dial. I didn’t see that type in my references, and was trying to stay true to period. I believe the third altitude indicator is present on other US planes in game, so maybe it would be OK to add here.

A general question I have. With computers getting more powerful all of the time, am I wasting my time trying to keep texture sizes small? For those of you that use hi-res pits; is there a significant performance hit?

I love hight resolution cockpit!  :-*
the P-47D-30 and P-47N cockpit are so beautiful

the 1942 P-47D use Kollsman Type C-12 G.F.E. altimeter part 94-27957

Quote
Kollsman Type C-12 US Army Airplane Altimeter 50000 FT:

A very nice Kollsman altimeter from around WWII.It measures four inches in length. The face measures 3 1/4" total and the glass measures 3 inches. There are no mounting screws. On the face:A.O.U.S Army
Type C-12
Ser. No AC 42-33808
100, 1000, 10000 feet
On the rear:Order No. AC 20848
MFRs Part No. 617BK-03
Spec No. 94-27957
and all the patent numbers
Kollsman Instrument Division
of Square Company
Elmhurst , New YorkImpressed into the metal is 50,000 ft.There is some minor paint wear around the front edge. The adjusting knob turns easily. The white/silver marks in various photos appear to be paint splashes rather than damage. They are not present anywhere on the front side. Minor scratching on the rear of the altimeter.
I do not know if this still works, but it is interesting just by itself!
