Export = Failure
« on: January 08, 2013, 06:55:17 AM »

Built the 3d model and exported it, then I open the mesh with .msh exporter, and instead of showing me the 3d model in a blue bx, it shows me an empty box. Why?

Can you identify which exporter did you use and which program you use to vew your mesh? Also briefly describe your process would help identify the problem.

It is highly possibly caused by wrong input value in config file .cfg. Additionally, best IL-2 mesh viewer is sknil (you can google it). I always personally dislike to use that mesh converter.

Do the contents of the msh file look ok when viewed in a text editor?

Post the section of the msh file with the error message.

//IL-2 export plugin by 6S.Maraz - http://www.diavolirossi.net
//Filename = C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\3dsmax\export\il-2\Missile2
[Common]
NumBones 0
FramesType Single
NumFrames 1

[LOD]
500
node Missile2_00 not found
node Missile2_00 not found

; eof

This is all it shows when opened with notepad.

Post the text from Missile2.cfg

It looks like you have a single LOD identified with a suffix _00

In Max the Object name should be Missile2_00

cfg file should probably be

Code: [Select]
scale_factor 1
n_lods 1
lod_dist 500
lod_type S
lod_prefix _00
n_coll 0
n_hooks 0
shadow_char none

I normally use a prefix to identify LOD's eg: L0_Missile2 (object name in Max)
cfg then as follows

Code: [Select]
scale_factor 1
n_lods 1
lod_dist 500
lod_type P
lod_prefix L0_
n_coll 0
n_hooks 0
shadow_char none

It exports, but as a dwarf shorter version of the object.

Before exporting

In Max

Select the object --- then Tools --- Reset XForm -- Reset Selected   (Max9)

Not sure if that will fix it but I have had to do this when part of the object has been modified by using the Select and Scale function.  Check that X Y Z are 100% --- not some other percentage.
